Park in the garage? Please tell me you’re not one of those who puts boxes of junk inside and your $40k truck outside.
I was just going to say, what the hell are you guys parking outside for?

I think the locking tailgate is standard. My XL has it.
I think you must have the 101A package which also includes cruise control, perimeter alarm and power mirrors over the base 100A package

Full size aluminum tailgates are what they are after. Anyone buying the tailgates from the drugges are part of the problem.

if a thief brings bolt cutter...a thief will start to bring a screwdriver for the hose clamp/
you can only protect yourself so much. if someone wants your stuff bad enough , they will get it plain and simple.
Hi RP,

Maybe they do carry a screwdriver....however it will take too long to remove and likely the thief will give up...

Hi Folks,

There is a simple fix for this concern of tailgate thefts besides the locking tailgate latch. All it takes is a hose clamp around the tailgate pivot. Thief cannot remove the tailgate due to the hose clamp and has to give up....Probably best to do both sides if you choose to do this

I've looked and the clamp method really doesn't work for this hinge. Ford has one in the catalog made by McGard.

The McGard is like a hose clamp with a wheel lock.

I took out the tailgate and it appears one side has the 45* and the other is an inserted stud. You 45 out the right side and slide it off the left side stud. Correct?

It's not. It's a bracket. VKB3Z-18168-A

I was working on a job back east and we figured they had about $150K in vehicles in their driveway while the garage was filled with junk! I'm talking old cloths and boxes thrown all over the place. IIRC we counted like 3 old refrigerators in their too.

Our HOA requires Vehicles in the Garage at night...No parking outside the garage... You can not tell who is home and who is not...I like this!

I wish mine was like that, our HOA is a joke. Here you can park in the driveway and in the street only if there's no room in the driveway but that never stops people from parking in the street when their driveway is free. Then add most around here drive like maniacs so it's an adventure getting through some of these tight streets with cars parked are on both sides and not get hit head on!

Wow ... what could you get for one of those $5000+ "Stairway to heaven" GM tailgates?

Problem is ... what happens if it starts unfolding while the guy is running away with it:crazy:?
