I wrapped my headlights in clear shortly after purchase in 2021. First time I ever wrapped anything.

After over 5 years they look very clear and have very little pitting.

I tried to do mine with precut film and wasn't happy with the way it was working so never got it done. Wish I'd gotten a shop to do it while I lived in Florida. Now mine are starting to delaminate around the edges so I'm considering replacement headlights since removing, sanding and refinishing the stock ones would take (me) days while a set of new aftermarkets would go on in a day.

You did a fantastic job applying the film. How difficult was it to do, I have never wrapped anything but gives me an idea that maybe I should try what you did.

Wrapping with ppf is essential, especially if you live in an area where road chips are frequent (as I do living in Arizona). I had my entire front end wrapped. Xpel is considered one of the best films.

George, it was tricky, not knowing how much the material would stretch around corners. Controlling heat and squeegeeing the wrinkles was a challenge, The second light came out better but with the hood closed all gaps were hidden!

The UV coating on mine is just starting to peel. Does it make sense to wrap them, or should I go through the pain of wet sanding and recoating?

Not trying to be a smart ass but what is the point of wrapping them clear?

Like a screen protector on a phone. Protects a very expensive light fixture from chips, cracks and scratches. I put a screen protector on my Sync3 screen and it makes cleaning the screen super easy and easier to see when the sun is shining on it. It was picking up very minor scratches and I wanted to stop that and as a bonus, now they are invisible.

Ditto on the screen protector! The Matt finish helps prints and glare!

As far as using clear, you could go for a colored film as well!
