I'll believe this works when I see it.

Still waiting on a video that shows a humanoid robot change and balance a tire, when the wheel/tire is still on the car.

-> Found it. <-

But I'd like to see more detail. The camera operator needs to back away to see more of what's going on.

Not a very humanoid looking robot to me.

Looks like a human had to connect the air hose.

Hey, you're right. That machine is not getting the whole job done. :curse:
I bet they made the tech check for proper pressure too. Big on promise, short on practice delivery.
-minor edit, it was bugging me-

As well as putting the wights on  . I'll admit, the way it measures the weight and cut it was slick.

The efficiencies are the game changer here - one technician handling three service bays at once. Two tires at a time. Handles the bulk of the work at six times efficiency.

Sure, intervention is needed from a tech but only for some tasks.

It’s cool and all that but at what cost? The big chains like Discount Tire, Fountain Tire, etc. can invest in these machines and quickly re-tool their shops. Small independents won’t be able to and they’ll slowly disappear.

It‘s also easy to see how two thirds of the techs would no longer be needed and with the reduced role, you don’t need the most experienced and higher paid ones.

So, this is great for franchise owners and the big corporations but is sucks for the small business owner and workers. :(

I wonder what one of those machines cost.
What happens when it breaks?
I'm sure they come with a service contract, but "We'll be out there sometime tomorrow" might not cut it.

The good thing there is you just go back to regular tire changing until it's fixed.

As far as cost goes I'm sure they're pretty expensive. Like everything the "bean counters" have figured out that in the long run it's cheaper than having employees who you have to pay taxes, workers comp, benefits etc to. Robots don't get sick (yes they break down) don't ask for a raise and don't talk back. Welcome to the world of technology! I'm so glad I'm out of the workforce and don't have to deal with this part of it now.

I've had two cataract surgeries, and in June will have my second vitrectomy. I was not too nervous, about 24 years ago I had Lasik surgery. I was nervous as F*** for that, which turned out fine so I guess I was slightly mentally prepared for my recent surgeries. I am seeing better than ever now, but can't wait to get the floaters out of my left eye. Oh, and did I mention my cataract surgeon is hot? So there's that.
I think you might have mentioned it 3-4 hundred times. 😜

I guess we can see why you'd need that surgery...
