As much fun as it looks like this is gonna be, I'm afraid I have to sit this one out. Sidelined with a shoulder replacement this week.
I'll live vicariously through your exploits though.

Party on!
Maybe we need to relocate the Rager. Out of curiosity, will this require an overnight hospital stay. Like, will you be away from the house by any chance. ;)

Surgery was last Thursday. I am homebound now for the next 10 weeks. Gotta recuperate now with my new shoulder parts.

One thing we'll be doing this time that we haven't done yet is we’re going to take the Verde Canyon Railroad on Thursday. It takes you on a 4 hour trip through the mountains and along the river which takes you through a 734’ long tunnel.

The rail trip was interesting. Be sure to watch for eagles along the way.

Get well my friend! If you need anything let me know we'll be coming through your way on Saturday morning and stopping in Goodyear.

🤔 This might be a good time to sneak a damper on there. See I'm thinking of the goodness of your health. 😜

If you were his surgeon, you would have snuck one into his shoulder. 😜

Heal up quick buddy. That looks like a long recovery before you’ll have full range of motion. Good thing the Ranger is an automatic. You’ll be back in fighting form before you know it.

We got here around 11:30 and stopped at the Chapel Of The Holy Cross. We stop here every time we're in Sedona and it's really a beautiful small church up on a hill set into the rocks. There's some magnificent views from there too.

This is your first sight of Sedona coming in from 179 off the I-17. That's Bell rock off to the left and there's some good hiking trails around it.

You turn down Chapel Rd and it takes you up the hill to the church. There's very limited parking there and it can be a hassle but well worth it once you find a spot.

I would love to go hiking there
You'd love it Bob! There's so many great trails all around Sedona from easy to expert. If you ever get the chance let me know because Annie hates hiking and only goes for me. Then I pay for it (literally) and have to take her shopping afterwards. 💸

After the church we stopped for lunch at Tlaquepaque Village. Say that fast 3 times.lol It's an area just before you reach the center of Sedona that has a few places to eat and a bunch of shops. They had a bunch of tents set up for a wildlife presentation, everything from snakes to falcons which was really cool.

This is the courtyard and there's several different ones similar to this throughout the village.

They had a Sonoran Desert Turtle just like Tito Phil @P. A. Schilke. He was 30 years old and trying to escape the whole time we were there. lol

This guy had a python around his neck and it has a weird texture to it. Kind of dry (not oily) and felt like snake skin boots. Annie wouldn't even get near him. lol

IMG_5427.webp

The next tent had more snakes and this Bearded Dragon lizard!

The next one had these birds. I was waiting for the hawk to get loose and try and attach the python.

This is a American Kestrel Falcon and it was really cool.

Here's a Great Horned Owl and he was so calm and people were taking their picture with him and he never moved.

This one is a Swainson’s Hawk, he just looks mean! They only come to North America in the spring and summer and then winter in South America. I guess this is where they came up with the term "Snowbird". lol

The Swainson's hawk is the second longest migrant of any North American raptor, after arctic nesting Peregrine falcons. The flight from breeding ground to South American pampas in southern Brazil or Argentina can be as long as 7,100 mi (11,400 km). Each migration can last at least two months.

Are you going to drive Schnebly Hill Rd? That is a very scenic off-road trail. I have yet to drive it with my Ranger, but I did drive it with my Tacoma. The Taco with the TRD-Offroad had just enough clearance. Most people on the trail had lifted Jeeps.

No! lol

I did it the last time we were here with my '19 (about 4 years ago) and that trail is so beat up now I think one of my kidneys is still up there. I was talking with a guy yesterday who use to drive for the Safari Jeep Tours and he said they haven't groomed/fixed that trail in years and it's really bad now.
