I just started the buy back process with Ford last week for my XLT I bought in July. Since then, the truck has been back to dealer (an hour drive away) 5 times for a total of 34 days. Truck has 1700 miles on it and majority of those are driving to and from the dealership 5 times. A long list of issues that have not been fixed and the dealership couldn't care less and has lied to my face multiple times.. In my case, ford has been very helpful.

How long did the whole process take? Not looking forward to finding a replacement truck as this one has every feature I wanted on it and they are hard to come by in this spec.
Full process took me nearly 4 months, from initiating my claim to getting a check in-hand. I was assured that delays I experienced with the "check writing group" were extremely unheard of, but I wouldn't be surprised if they're more common than they let on.

Hope you have a quicker turn-around than I did, but in the end a new fully-functional truck is worth it.

Well finally got Ford to agree to buyback or replace the truck. They gave me 3 options. The first was a straight up buyback where they refund everything minus usage and pay off the loan balance. Second is replacement of a different new Ford vehicle. Third is the substitution of collateral. Basically get the exact same truck, same payments, same loan balance, etc.

Which option did you go with? I need to run the numbers and wait for a buy back offer from Ford. Thinking if they just buy back the truck I might be able to go out and buy one for less than I paid for my current one due to the end of year incentives on remaining 2019 inventory.

Thanks!

In the mean time I would go out and get a couple prices on the new one. That way you'll be able to make a quick decision and not lose out on any incentives while you're waiting for Fords offer. There are a lot of good rebates now that you might be able to get the exact truck and save a few thousand.

The offer I accepted was full refund, which I put towards another truck the dealer had on the lot. It wasn't a like-for-like (went from XLT 2wd to XLT 4wd w/ tow pkg.) so they couldn't do just a swap-out. I was also impatient while driving their loaner vehicles for months, so I purchased the new truck with a new loan while they were still processing the buy-back. I received a check from Ford for the purchase price, minus usage about a month after agreeing to the terms.
