Finally did it. Bought the Maverick

I did a hard pass on the Tacoma.

Me too. I almost test drove one before I bought my '19 Ranger, but that's as far as I got. Danged uncomfortable and uninspiring. Didn't even bother to crank it.

I actually drove both the Taco and the Ranger.

Easy decision.

I wanted another SCab and precious few can be found now a days.

The Ranger interior was better thought out, and the truck seemed more polished. I knew the shocks were terrible, but the drive train performed well on the test drive.

I thought I'd be OK. Famous last words....

Still correcting weaknesses, but I get closer to what I thought I was buying as time goes on. The wife still tells me to "unload it".

Unhappy with the EGFR system (it's going to be troublesome - I can feel it), the transmission, the BMS, not to mention the electrical fan hose bridge debacle, the lack of a transmission dipstick on a truck transmission that literally demands that it be there. I could go on, but there's no sense in beating a dead horse.

I'm not sure why, but my AC blend doors have only acted up once, but we don't change the settings often, and rarely use the heat.

The Camry I rented for a month last summer was one of the nicest riding vehicles I've driven in a while. I would buy this hands down before any Ford product because they've perfected the hybrid over the last 20+ years. I'm not a fan boy or loyalist to anyone anymore because they've ALL proven they're not loyal to their customers!

Actually, your report sent me down to check out the Camry. It is a well thought out, polished, smooth operating car.

It exceeded my expectations.

When I got rid of my 2016 Tacoma I swore I was done with Toyota forever. But that was the stubborn Polack in me talking and I know you can't demonize a whole company over just one vehicle. I had a girlfriend who had a Camry (back in the late 90's) and I always loved driving it and was trouble free for her besides general maintenance. After seeing and reading about the new redesign for 2025 I decided to rent one on our second trip out here and was glad I did. It was the first time I got to really drive and out some miles on a hybrid and get too see how it is in all different elements of driving. Needless to say I was very impressed and moved it to the top of my list. It's to bad it's a little hard for you to get in and out of because I'm sure you'd have really liked it. Damn old age. lol

My wife has a 2022 lariat as well. Great mileage but it’s time to turn off coach mode. Don’t be afraid to floor it. They’re peppier than you think.

I put a tune on the Ranger and with 300 HP Lucille hauls balls. Thanks Andy.

I have that exact truck on order. Received an email couple of days ago that it has been built and off the assembly line. Not sure how long it will take to get here, however. This will be my retirement vehicle as well. 110 days to go! (Yes, I am counting) Congrats on the purchase.

Awesome Brian, I can't wait to retire. Are you keeping the Ranger? I love both vehicles now. I am spoiled. LOL!

I had no problem getting in or out at 70, but things change relatively quickly as you age. I did like the car, and the dealer had a lifetime warranty for free on the car. And it was less than sticker! It was a smokin' deal. 50 mpg and it gets it!

Yes it does. The one I rented was averaging over 50 MPG for most of the trip and not just highway miles either.

That's a deal I don't think I could've passed up!

They are a smaller dealer about 40 miles north of Raleigh, NC. To compete with the big boys in town they offer that warranty. It a lifetime warranty with unlimited miles, at any of their dealerships. And they had quite a few across several manufacturers. I remember doing a double take. I told him I did my own maintenance. He told me to just keep your records to show your changing your oil, etc., and you're good to go. I <almost> went for it. It was priced a $30K. The CX-5 design fits us better, but it only gets 25-26mpg.

I shouldn't be surprised at that at all. Many of us have an appreciation for good quality engineering-when and where it exists. And equally many of us don't find it in Toyota trucks but do recognize it in other of their models.

I had a toyota truck for 5 years. The price toyota charged is not worth the quality. That was surprisingly bad. I had several repairs done under warranty and the seats were the worst quality and painfully uncomfortable. Told myself that when I paid it off, i was selling it and I did.
The ranger drives like a cadillac in comparison.

I think it's gorgeous! You made a great choice. You'll never regret having "honda" efficiency paired with Ford capability. The bed will be plenty for most jobs. How often do you haul sheet rock?
