We have a 23 year Samsung 55"...cost $5K new in 2003...I picked up a 65" 4K last year for under $400...and tons of free spyware, cameras, records everything you say and watch lol...
I use my 65" as a monitor. nothing more. OTA TV comes from a OTA DVR via an Onkyo Multimedia Amp with 7 HDMI ports. I use a Flirc and a programable remote to control what come on when, all automated. Everything flows through it. Rasp P4 with LibreElec for TV Swows, Movies, Music, and more.... BluRay occasionally, but I've gone to ripping them to the server. I hate wading through menus to watch a show or movie.

All router ports are carefully locked to keep nosey companies at bay. TV has never had network access, just a simple HDMI cable. Been working great for 15 years now, but had upgrades along the way, newer Amp and Rasp Pi, and updated Synology servers.

I don't pay for any services. Getting content is not a problem.

Intriguing...for dummies like me, how do I do this?

edit...like this?

To assign a static IP address to a smart TV, navigate to Settings > Network/Internet > Network Status/Setup, select the connection (Wi-Fi/Ethernet), and change IP settings from DHCP/Automatic to Static or Manual. Manually enter a unique IP address (e.g., 192.168.1.50), Subnet Mask (usually 255.255.255.0), and Gateway (router IP, e.g., 192.168.1.1).
That will work but you must make sure that the IP assigned is outside the DHCP scope.

This means that you cannot let it grab an address and then make that one static.

If the address is inside the DHCP scope, your router will hand out that address to another device when the lease is up.

If 2 devices have the same IP on the network, neither one of them will work.

If your router has it, use DHCP Reservation to lock it ... works just like a Static IP without having to set it on the device, just the router.

Indeed, I don't remember the displacement of the V6, however I did question the salesperson during the test drive if indeed the vehicle was V6 powered, her response was "yes, isn't it wonderful"!

My candid response was "no, it's a slug"...
It only performs if you wind the piss out of it - so hitting redline it finally feels somewhat snappy.

I test drove a 3rd Gen Tacoma - I REALLY wanted to like it - my brother had a second gen one and was really happy with it. I test drove the 3rd gen and hated it - mostly for the engine/trans combo. It felt gutless unless you floored it and the transmission was CONSTANTLY hunting for gears. It soured me on the rest of the truck.

I had the same experience, and the cabin felt very claustrophic.., seats / seating position really uncomfortable too.

I did some research on the Taco I test drove, it was a 2019 3.5 liter V6 4x4 mated to an automatic, it's performance was reminiscent of the early '80's Ford Escort/Mercury Lynx with automatic transmissions, which was constantly hunting for the right gear it should be in, until it finally made up its mind and upshifted into top gear.

This resulted in a mind-numbing lugging condition which was unbearable, at best.

The Tempo/Topaz twins were similar in performance, but at least the pushrod inline 4 produced a bit more torque, reducing the "lugging" sensation somewhat.
