What did you do to your Ranger today?

Cool set up! Is your plate mounted to the bottom of the tailgate and then it swings down with it? Do you just go without your back up camera now or did you relocate it?

Yeah, the plate rotates with the tailgate. It is bolted to a ... bolt... on the left inside bottom (that holds the hinge on).

I have a Wolfbox mounted to the SmartCap, so my rear view is not obstructed. The spare holder is from Wilco (though modified) so, it can be removed. I only run this setup when my truck bed will be full. I am going on a family vacation with my in-laws so... I have a lot of their crapola too. When the bed is not full, the spare is tied down in there.

Does Colorado not have legislation mandating the illumination of your license plate?

Ontario's Highway Traffic Act stipulates the need, and not having one is a $110 fine. Other jurisdictions that I've lived in have had similar laws, and I've never heard of one that doesn't.

Well, I went across the ferry to take the big girl for a ride. Got some groceries. And coming home, yep, you guessed it, two miles from the house I hit a buck so hard it broke both antlers clean off his head. . Fortunately, my “deer guard” absorbed most of the hit. The one antler put a dent in my hood which pissed me off royally. Need to see if the body shop can pop it out from underneath I hope. You can’t have anything nice anymore. I guess I’m fortunate I wasn’t in the CRV cause it most likely would have totaled it as hard as I hit it.

Sorry to hear it! We try to be careful and then.... My ATV trailer came off last October heading out to elk camp and the bumper of the ATV kissed the tailgate. Now I need to check if the two tiny dents can be pulled or pushed out without painting. Made me sick when I saw it the next day in the woods!!

You also made me think of something that Ron White said on the Blue Collar Comedy Tour movie.
Slow the bullet down to 55 mph, put a pair of headlights and a little horn on it, and the deer will practically jump in front of the bullet lol!

A guy was coming the opposite way and saw me hit it. The impact broke its back. He asked if I had a gun and I said of course. He put it out of its misery and took it home to butcher. Fresh kill, no long suffering, and not wasted.

Absolutely. Deer population in this county is ridiculous and it was just a matter of time. Fresh kill, why not use it?

it’s currently illuminated by the brake light, at night.
My next project is to put a LED on it, but… baby steps.
