Im pretty sure I would be devastated to lose the engine like that, and infuriated at the dealer response.

As someone else said, maybe a salvage motor can be sourced to save some cash, and then again maybe someone at Ford will offer a more compassionate and common sense response.

Very sorry to hear of the 2.3L troubles.

I'm taking a 500 miles trip this weekend... going to have to keep an eye on it now where I would not have worried at all.

Only saving grace is, now you can upgrade:

Sorry to hear of this OP. But I’ll second this above idea. Way I see it is you have a few options:
- just trade it and take a bath of equity lost, but you get to move on.
- pay $15k to replace the engine
- pay like $20-25k for the coyote conversion (I think that’s the cost I saw once). I wonder if you can even get a manual transmission for it. But there is a company doing this conversion. What a beast of a truck this would be lol.

if ford doesn’t help out with a new engine, I wonder if you can ask for a private cash offer on a new ford vehicle to help defray the costs of a new purchase. New vehicle shopping is tough right now. No one is better than the other. Except maybe GM. I couldn’t buy a GM product, but that’s just me.

Was she a blonde ?
They dont have to be anymore. Based on the guards I've had here, the inability to critically think and connect the simplest of dots spans all hair colours, races, and sexes.
And its maddening to have to do their thinking for them.

Thanks, I am planning to call Ford corporate sometime today.

The Ford dealer service lady told me that they "saw signs of off roading"... that there was "bits of mud underneath the vehicle" and that this or having non-stock tires was the likely cause for my engine failure... seriously WTF??

I don't even take this thing off road very much and the stuff I do is mostly mellow fire roads... She kept re-iterating this off-roading point and that I should not mention that the truck had "been off road" when I call corporate...
You should get her a gift basket for her genius insight...good thing I learned this today...who'd thought a 4x4 pickup truck were not meant to go off road...stick to climbing curbs at the mall...

I like to jump the medium dividers to get into a parking lot!

Naw! I wouldn't do that

Yours is the second I've heard of water intrusion, and there's one on the 6G, but his is low miles and still under warranty.
The 'off road' comment is out of line and irrelevant, unless you have an ESP to fight them on it.
To be the bearer of bad news, OEM is 60K miles, and unless there is a rash of failures like this, I'm afraid you will be SOL.
Even with the rash of transmission failures and this odd scenario, there will still be people that say ESP warranties are a waste of money.

Here's the link to the 6G with water intrusion. Take a look at:
(8) 2024 XL (STX) 2.3L coolant intrusion | Ranger6G - 2024+ Ranger & Raptor Forum, News, Owners, Community (6th Gen)

It doesn't seem like he's had a definite response to cause of failure.
And look what has to be done to get to it:
