That's why I pump it out. Easier to control where it goes. I never thought about pumping it in. Just used Fitz's funnel. I do have two of those pumps. Different colors ...maybe use one to pump out and the other to pump in.
No need to pump it out this time...I just drilled a hole into the plastic sump lol...it drained straight into a large cement mixing tray very quickly...

The last time I tried pumping it out through the Fitzstick, it just took too long...the pump struggled sucking through the long tube ...also I had problems with the tubing getting caught due to the early production fitting at the bottom...that's history since the point of PPE is the very expensive drain plug...

Pumping the fluid back in through the Fitzstick on top was amazingly fast...next fluid change (w/o filter change) should take under an hour...

I've got my done to well under an hour.... ~45 minutes... and I know the fluid level is right!

I spend more time checking the fluid level than actually changing the fluid! I just did a drain and fill a week ago - first time with the PPE pan - it was easy and I filled based on what I took out but I'm always really paranoid about the level now - I spent a long time checking the level - with new fluid being so pink and thin it is REALLY hard to see where it is on the stick. If you add more you have to wait a while for it to run down the stick to get an accurate reading.

I was a bit worried - I had about 20k since the last drain and the fluid wasn't black, but it was darker than I'd like. Not much on the drain plug which was good, but it was good I did it when I did. I bought another 10 quarts of fluid for the next one too, which I think I'll do sooner than later.

I know the feeling. That is why once I got it right I did the fluid checks at different temperatures, right down to just started.

When cold the fluid is easier to see. It should be just on the dipstick tip after you cycled through the gears at 5 second intervals. At 75F it will be 1/8" up the tip. Lower the colder it gets outside...but I have no idea just how much lower. I can extrapolate, but that is simply a guess and I refuse to do it.

My garage only drops to the mid 50F's during the winter. But I tested/measured it in my unheated workshop garage where the floor is flat. By the time I move it in and check it I'm past the cold fluid time interval.

It gets much colder in the workshop. I could leave it in there for several days and check the fluid level at much colder temps to see where it is at.

I am changing a few things in the next month or so... I may check the fluid level at that time, documenting much colder ambient air and actual fluid temps.

I hear you, Rob...I was very aware of the fluid level and since I've confirmed many, many times prior to this change, the fluid was at the correct level at the correct temp...that said, I made sure to account for every drop that came out during the exchange as to be able to put back EXACTLY the amount that came out (plus the extra Lubeguard to account for the increased capacity PPE)...now that I have clean fluid, it's nearly impossible to gauge the level even with the great Fitzstick...

I am so thankful for the hard work you did, and the fact that you documented it well. I used that when checking. I guess I have PTSD from all the horror stories so I just want to make sure the level is correct - one thing I've found is that once it shows on the stick, it does not take a lot of fluid to change the level - and it is really easy to overfill it - another thing that stresses me out.

I've never had anything that was this hard to check the level on honestly - its amazing the level is ever correct - no wonder the results seem all over the board!

Yeah - I put in what I took out but I still second guess it over and over..... I just need to chill.

Without the FitzStick it would be nearly impossible to get correct-without getting 3rd degree burns, that is.

We need a support group for members with tranny PTSD...maybe a new thread? 🤣

It is difficult to explain just how thin and clear the fluid is when clean and hot.

And just how black it becomes from over heating and contaminates.
