Drive shaft center bearing

Recently had to replace drive shaft center bearing on my 2020 ranger, started with a vibration and thought it was my tires - had them rebalance and mechanic felt the vibration I felt.
Well, we put it on the lift in the air and ran it slowly and center driveshaft bearing was bad. Had ford replace the entire driveshaft with new bearing and fixed the problem (cheaper to replace all of it then to fix bearing). Well, this past week because of that issue and cheap steel rear differential seal started throwing bearing oil ! Changed the seal and 4 days later leak again - well the flange is a cheap steel and just from the seal wearing it caused a groove that let oil out.
So, if you replace the seal also do the flange, so far so good for the end of the year..

I went thru the same thing.

My center support bearing was squealing. Ford replaced the center support bearing with a new one.

A year later it started squealing again but intermittently. Brought it back to the dealer but since it was squealing intermittently if they couldn’t replicate the squealing noise I would have to pay for the diagnostic fee.

We were leaving for a trip with our camper and I ended up buying a complete driveshaft and replaced it my self.

I think I paid like $450 for the complete driveshaft. I also bought 8 new bolts from my local Ford dealership.

The bearing on my wife’s ranger squeaks intermittently. We took it to the dealership once to have them look at it but they said they couldn’t replicate the issue and couldn’t do anything. I guess until it starts happening all the time, I’ll just wait. Her truck is still under warranty so I’m not going to foot the bill to replace it. If it fails, Ford can eat that cost.

The way I confirmed the center bearing was bad, my Brother-in-law put the truck up on the lift and idled up and watched the vibration and severe shake.

When did Ford do the driveshaft swap? Did they update it to the Tremor style ( 8 bolts at the rear diff) ?

Got a new drive shaft coming in to Ford now.

New driveshaft is installed and the noise went away and no vibration at all.
Brought the old driveshaft shaft home for justin. You know, Justin Case…..
The first one went just over 148,000 miles so we’ll see how this one does.

Just had it done in December did seem any different as far as upgrade to Tremor shaft
