Decided to do and then expand upon a RAM mount setup for my Tablet, Phone, GPS Receiver, GoPro, etc. Here's some pics of how I set it all up.

The top tray works well. Bought the 5" aluminum T track for that and bolted it through the tray. The tablet holder is two of the adhesive ball mounts together. It all works VERY well (and held up to offroad use in Colorado a couple of months ago.

If you ever get in an accident and your airbags go off, you and your passenger are going to be eating all those devices. Every one of those could turn into a deadly projectile.

I'd really only be worried about the tablet. The other two aren't mounted to an airbag location, and would really only turn into projectiles if the tablet hits them just right.

Even that said, these are pretty solid locations. I just can't bring myself to put holes in the truck yet!

I don't have any pictures but I have the RAM XGrip for large phones/phablets and it fits perfectly with my Galaxy S9+ in an OtterBox. It's mounted just off to the right of the center of the windshield above the tray. I love it so far.

Yes, and No.

Yes, I do realize that anything on the dash area can become a projectile. I also don't have the tablet mounted with passengers (unless I'm offroad and slow).

No, they most likely won't become projectiles as they aren't in a direct path of an airbag. Please see for the airbag deploy pattern. You make assumptions...

As for making holes in things... The tray is a $25 part that can be easily replaced if needed. The tablet mount is stuck on, and can be removed without (I hope) damaging the trim piece.

Great set up! Where did you get the 5" track? I've been looking at this but they're all silver not black as yours. Do you have a link?

Thanks much Ethan! I have a Ram set up for the tablet too...though it's a bit more complex based around "Lifestyle Overland's" setup. I take some pics when the sun is up later :)

BTW, which track ball did you use?

Looks like more of a shot mess than it really is with all the cables :giggle:

It's hard to see but it's a 3 point base system making the tablet perch very stable even in rough conditions...yes, it is a permanent mount in my permanent Ranger:)

I was considering something like that, they have a seat floor mount for it now too. Looks good though.

Thanks...not as clean as yours but I wanted a robust permanent rig that wasn't in either wife's or airbag's way...I tried to get away with 3M adhesive but that didn't hold so ended up having to add screws...but I'm planning on keeping her for a long long time anyway:)
