Why is everyone candy coating it?, its not gonna happen, it would take a few guys a year If they are Ford techsWithout digging into everything needed.
Off the top of my head of some of the parts that are different.
Transmission / Transfer Case / Rear Driveshaft / Front Differential & Axles & Possibly Rear Differential? / Programming (PCM) and associated modules.
Wiring for the 4WD Circuit which will include the Engine Bay Fuse Box and Switch
So, my opinion it's not cost effective - yes, I am sure it can be done but it will not be a simple all you have to do is upgrade.
There are other items I am sure will be needed but the above is just what comes to mind at the moment.
Something to keep in mind - Resale Value = 2WD as that is what's its titled as.
I am a realest, there might be 4 guys on this whole Forum that Might be able to pull this off, you being one of them, and you know better LOL there is 0 (Zero) chance he could pull it off, and spend $20k trying, and he is not going to even know till he gets down to the last part! (Guessing at most of it along the way too LOL) some people love the thrill of Chaos, most of us here with decades of Auto & 4x4 years behind us would only have Less Than a >50% chance of pulling that off (IF we had all the right parts given to us) we have all been there on much easier builds, parts boiling on the stove, parts in the kitchen sink or rebuilding a 6 pack Webber carb on the kitchen table....
and still end up with a Very COBBED all ready 6 year old 2x4 truck, totally ruining Resale, and only to run it into a tree a year from now
Start a business, trade equities when you have enough money buy a 4x4 using yours as a trade-in.
Start a Youtube Channel and make the project pay for itself LOL
Call it MY COBBED RIDE because we want to watch too, plus point and laugh in the comments!
