Thanks Tony. This was decades ago. The damage was covered and I was out the $100 deductible. I was a renter at the time and never bothered with contents or liability insurance in those days.

They tried the same crap with my taillight a few years back, so once again(not the girl who called today, I certainly let her know my position, but kept it civil, but whoever she turned it over to is fair game imo)anyway ,once again I get to slowly change into a raving lunatic over the phone over something that I shouldn't. Man, sometimes, I’m just not sure how they come up with it. A pickup lost a wheel that flew down the road and caved in the trunk of my parked Prelude. Insurance said I had to claim it on my comprehensive coverage and pay a deductible because it was a “falling object” and not a “collision.”

I lucked out mine was damaged in the same area but the tail light had to be replaced. I took it to a paintless dent guy and it's nearly perfect. You really have to look in the right light to see it. The Ford OEM unit was as much as the estimate on yours.

Not to hijack but does paintless dent repair work on the aluminum tailgate? My atv trailer came unhooked heading up to elk hunt a week ago and the atv kissed the tailgate leaving two small dents. Not very deep and no bigger than a penny. Pissed at myself when I saw them the next day in the light at elk camp is an understatement! Sick actually.

Yes it can be done on aluminum but it's a little more difficult (and expensive) than working on steel because the aluminum is softer.

Aluminum can be repaired using the same tools and process as steel, but it behaves differently during the repair. While aluminum is softer than steel, it often requires more precise pressure and a longer push before you start seeing results. In my experience, you have to work the dent farther to bring the panel back to its original shape without damaging the metal or paint.

Thanks, Dave. I have some friends who have a body shop and she used to do the paintless repairs. I don't know if she still does but I will be dropping in to see her. Hoping it can be reached from the back through the access panel as well.

Well the PDR guy didn't want to take it on so I guess it's going in the body shop...
He took the taillight out and said he couldn't really get a tool in there to work it...
