The really great news is that my arms and hands are no longer numb and tingling. Neck is stiff and shoulders sore, but the new discs are smooth. No more grinding.

Still tired and needing rest, and that collar is horrible to have on and sleep in.

Throat is till sore from intubation. Still hurts to swallow. And my lips on the left side of my mouth are bloodied and bruised. Have not had this feeling since junior high school!

But my new neck parts are working out well. The Neck Collar is going back on as soon as the new dressing is applied. 15 minutes of airing out and it all goes back on...

I do think I'll sleep well tonight.

I am Home! Sore and bruised, but OK. Doc had a big grin on his face when he showed up at post op / recovery. Said the vertebrae are back where they belong, and as a result the muscles and nerves are stretched. Expect pain for the next few days. Take your pain meds to stay ahead of it. Next 3-4 days are will be painful. but things get better very quickly. Signing off for a while until things stabilize.

Thanks for all the good wishes and prayers.
Great news! And one for your Dr and his pioneering technique.

Ha, having recently recovered from bypass surgery there is nothing worse than waking up with that tube down your throat- unless its is them pulling it out. 🙂
Hope your recovery goes smoothly.
Sad that us Ranger owners are such a bunch of senior citizens. But we will prevail.😜

I'm a tough old coot! I'll be fine. Thanks!

Bypass surgery is tough! My father in law had quad bypass a few years ago. It was rough on him.

That intibation tube is probably the most troublesome part of this experience. The left side of my mouth is still tender to touch. I don't know what they attached to the left side of my mouth/lips, but it cut and blistered them. Just another nuisance to deal with.

That and moving the trachea to the left side to gain access to the vertebra. Both the trachea and bronchial passages are tender... but should be a lot better in the next few days.

The lengthening of the spine with the synthetic discs stretches the nerves and muscles. which require time to adjust. But my actual neck and arm pains are completely gone!

Sleeping upright can be a struggle as well, but the best news is that those Doctors gave me another score of years with my wife. I have been truly blessed. I'll be able to turn a few wrenches for a while longer!

The actual numbness and tingling in my hands and arms is largely gone, and the very little that is left will completely abate as the nerves heal over time.

Left to its own, the affected muscles would have atrophied as the nerves died. I had already lost 20% of the strength in my left arm, and several of the nerves in that bundle went to the heart and lungs.

Life is good, even when times are hard.

I did read it and how many times do I have to say that it was after the engine was blown? DO I NEED TO SPELL IT OUT FOR YOU? Just because you are a keyboard warrior and righteous does not mean that you are right. Again I hope you get treated as kindly as you have treated me.

It's always a good idea to use either the "quote" or "reply" feature when you're replying to someone specific here. That way we know which one of us it is that has gotten your attention in some manner.

It was very frustating that the test was not run and happy to report that I am getting a new engine with 0 miles on it.
I think that I am going to leave this forum for a while. It seems that there are plenty of men offering the mansplaning version of life to me. After 20 years in the military I have had enough .... Hope everything goes well.

As in all things internet, my actions will be unjustly critized while the no balls keyboard warrior will be given kudos for being a moron. I guess having imaginary balls are better than having none at all in real life.

We're here to make everyone's wildest dreams come true. Glad we could help!

For the record, it would be presumptuous of you to expect anything else when joining a vehicle-specific forum clearly majority-populated by men, and then asking those men questions.

If you're not feeling treated appropriately, perhaps approaching the answers AND questions you've gotten here with a better attitude toward the attempts to help you would net you answers more tolerable by your seemingly over-sensitive feelings. But that's just my opinion.

My attitude runneth over after 20 years in the military serving with same type of morons that think because they are a man they are better then me. I dealt with my whole career how presumptious of me to think that there are men that could be different. MY fault for thinking better of this group.

Ya know, we were 39 posts into this thread before anyone seemed to realize you were a woman so I don't think this is the issue you're having with us.

If you had joined earlier and spent much time at all reading through the threads here you might have noticed the guys are equally critical of each other when information seems vague or lacking. Good and cohesive information begets better answers pretty much all the time.

After spending time in the service with "moron men", one would think you would be better equipped to handle simple and direct questions much better and without getting your ass chapped so quickly and easily. If you don't want to be here, you can delete your account every bit as easily as you created it.

Im sure we all wish you well with your replacement engine. Glad you got that squared away.
