I ordered a set of Eiback Pro Truck front shocks, (not the coilovers, but E60-35-048-01-10 which is the bare shock without a spring).

I've removed springs from struts before so I'm comfortable with that. These shocks re-use the OEM spring perches and springs. It occurred to me this evening that although these had no "not for Tremor" designation, that the Fox perches might be different than say an FX4s or standard Ranger.

Has anyone done this sort of swap from the factory Tremor Fox's to the Eibachs and used the Fox springs and hardware?

Not trying to be a downer.. but I feel you might be running into trouble..
The shock body of the fox tremor shocks are considered a 2.0..or 2ā€ body..
The fx4 shocks (I think, therefore not completely confident in my answer.) are a smaller diameter..
so the perch on the shock body of the fox won’t be compatible to swap to the new eibach’s.. bottom perch won’t rest in the correct location…
I haven’t taken the fox coil overs out yet, however I believe 1/2ā€ of the ā€œliftā€ on the tremor is via a spacer and +3/4~+1ā€ of coilover to achieve the roughly 1ā€ taller ride Height of the tremor package..

(I tried going to the inch website to get more details of the particular ones you ordered, but I got a bad gate way error….i don’t really know what that means tho.. anyways)

you’re pioneering this.. if it works out, that’s great news…
Again I’m not certain, just going off some of the information….

having said all that.. a company may have a functional product for the tremor, but because they have not specifically tested it themselves… they will put not compatible with xyz..

Good Luck buddy, I hope you get it worked out.

I think you're right. I measured the body of the factory Fox shock and its approximately 2.28" round, whereas the Eibach diameter is 1.96".

Looks like I'll be calling Shock Surplus on Tuesday to see if they'll let me swap them out for something else.

Thanks for the heads up.

If you have a second vehicle, maybe just having them rebuilt may be the least expensive solution…but you’ll be stuck with vehicle down time during the shipping/service/receiving period.
Or was the ride quality part of the reason for swapping out?

It’s highly likely that you may have to go with a full coil over replacement (eibach pro truck/ pro truck 2R) kit..if you specifically want eibachs, or don’t want to have any extended truck down time.

Unfortunately I don't have a backup vehicle and there's no local options for rebuild.

I'm at 70k miles and the ride has become very rough.

I bought the Eibachs as a front/rear set and installed the rear shocks yesterday. Those alone made for quite an improvement. I'm hoping Shock Surplus will just let me pay the delta between the the cost of the fronts and exchange them for coilovers.

Aw man yeah the down time is the rough part..
Hopefully they’ll work with you on that.. I know stage3motorsports has stopped taking partial returns.
Sending them to shock surplus seems to be out of the question since you need the vehicle functional..
My ride quality has just started showing signs of degradation.. but it’ll work out for me.. it’s time for 2.5’s ?…
The eibachs seem to have good reviews for their coilovers so that’s good

Yeah I'm hoping it's not an issue. They literally just threw four Eibach boxes in a bigger box, and everything is available individually. I figure I won't hear anything until Tuesday.

Bilstein and Rancho have "not for Tremor" on all of their models, but the Eibachs have no such caveat. I should have known better and dug deeper ?.

From what I've read, watched on YouTube, and SS's videos, the Eibachs seem to be a good place between the ride of the Foxes and Bilstein, with Bilstein being the stiffer end of the spectum.

I'd consider spending a bit more on new Foxes, but I don't want to deal with having to rebuild and swap shocks every 40-50k.

I originally replaced my rear shocks with Fox. They were better than the factory shocks for sure. After 40K, they were horrible. Replaced everything with Eibach and couldn’t be happier. Even the wife noticed. Like you, I couldn’t be down for a week or so to get them rebuilt.

Way back when I had my Frontier NISMO, it originally came with Bilsteins. No clue what model. I ran those to 100K miles. Yes the ride had deteriorated but not horribly. Replaced them with the same. If Bilstein would offer a model that would fit a Tremor I’d go with it based on that previous experience.
Really sucks that the Fox are shot by 50K miles. I’ll definitely be looking for another brand. They may be good, but 50K mile life just doesn’t sit well with me.

They are not shot at 50k, they recommend rebuilding at 50k so you never have to experience degradation. My Fox 2.0 are at 75k and are still good. And yes, when a shock is truly blown it's easy to test and identify as such, they will leak fluid or be bouncy and no longer dampen.

My bad. I wasn’t clear. I have zero intention of replacing them at 50K miles. Just frustrated with the Fox 50K recommendations.

To follow up on this, I did have to return the Eibachs and order full coilovers due to the difference in diameters. Shock Surplus was great to deal with and let me pay the difference.

I don't care what brand shock you have. For most vehicles that are driven on the street, most shocks and struts are going to be worn out at 50,000 miles. Bilstein's are no exception either.

You have to keep in mind that it's not just seeing if oil is leaking out. You could easily have an issue with the internal seals not holding up anymore. This will cause shock to be bad where it will need to be replaced or rebuilt if applicable. At 75,000 without being rebuilt and not knowing the terrain you are on usually, I can still say that it needs to be rebuilt at the least. You will definitely see a difference in ride quality once it's done.

Yep, you can tell when shocks are worn out because they will become bouncy and wallowy
