Solid strategy!

I have a drawer in my home office full of phones with just screens that are demolished! So I’m actually surprised I’ve made it this far!!
I used to have a drawer of old or broken phones until I found out the local Best Buy recycles electronics.

i’m clinging on to hope that one day I will take the initiative and do whatever is needed to grab the pictures on it.

I’ve got that and then I’ve got a back up hard drive that failed, which has pictures of things like an unreal summer internship in NYC, among so many other ones in a life events.

Please allow this off topic detailed post for those who want to have a hell of a satisfying feeling, complete with immense frustration while putting it together! However, in the end, it’s pure happiness for the most part!

In other words it’s pretty much the same feeling as working on these truck projects often!

Synology NAS!!
(Network Attached Storage)
- this keeps everything off the cloud because it’s an interesting combo of Storage and then some pretty awesome capabilities!
- login directly so no third-party
- Security: it virtually supports every IP camera out there. I run 5 Ultra HD (4k res data hogs, but with 12 TB mirrored on separate 12 TB hard drives, not an issue and no more losing files)
** it’s called Surveillance Station **
- Plex LOCAL SERVER! Aggregate all streaming services and any kind of media you want on all of your TVsto have available from your computer. I will be saying goodbye to Comcast, and will create a nice guide, as you can get I think two weeks of programming history
- THE BIG ONE: Smart Home that is fully local because I can’t think of anything more unsettling than having a highly automated house with a vulnerability that somebody can see every single habit of yours, and unlock your doors!! Also View your cameras!

Sorry I got carried away. I just was amazed by my NAS
The FordPass app is even available through it :) (now it’s sort of relevant)

By the way, if one were so inclined, they could do something, which is what I do except for I have to just press the button as I’m not regimented enough to stick to the exact schedule :
- Has FordPass start up the truck
- any open windows will be brought to your
attention
- when you walk out the door, that locks
- all other doors are locked
- HVAC is turned off or set appropriately
- garage door closes accordingly
- all lights/desired lights turn off… Or if you
Want a particular light on, done!
- make sure all TVs are off… Hell, all electronics
- turn on any necessary security camera
features, such as package/human/vehicle/
etc protection
- turn on the equivalent of a home alarm that
is much more detailed, and I think if the
police need to come, it will be quicker if you
are the person calling versus ADT or
someone like that!

You could pretty much use your imagination, and if you want it done, there is a way!

It could even get the garage ready when you’re doing a project.

If cold: make sure the garage door is closed… Close if needed. Turn on your garage heater, lights, the stereo, compressor…. It could notify you when the compressor has turned off and the desired temperature has been reached; a.k.a. time to begin!

If hot: open the garage and turn on the fan, the stereo of course, and whatever else I’ve not even thought about!
I love consolidating the infinite proprietary apps into one single and well laid out app.

It’s just one of those things that blows you away so much that you are compelled to let others know about the option My apologies and I hope that it might be useful to somebody

Full disclosure, I didn't read every word, it was a little long. But I think I have the gist. I am also a little apprehensive about crap I do that gets stored in "the cloud". However I am also a sucker of the convenience. I have a ton of pics I have taken in my Google account.
I have a couple of antiquated storage devices, NAS, stand alone hard drive USB's etc. And I feel since I haven't accessed them in years, it's like old clothes. If you haven't worn them in x amount of time, get rid of them.
Not sure where I am going with this reply. Having a couple of drinks with my warm wood stove going. Yes, it's cold enough in central Va. to warrant a fire. Sorry for the distraction.

Yeah, I don’t know when it happened but I turned into a complete geek! Always technical but athlete in school. Car nut as well!

The worst part is that I turned into someone who writes in long posts as soon as the voice to text function started to get accurate as it learned the way I speak.

It’s a curse and I apologize for burdening everybody with it! I’m in recovery but it’s a slow process??

I refuse voice to text. I just wear out my thumbs. And I was fat on highschool, now more athletic
