Raptor suspension

I know that there was a thread about this a few years ago. I was wondering if gen 2 or gen 1 raptor rear shocks would be a decent option for the rear of the Ranger. I want to improve the off road capability without breaking the bank. It seems like you can get a decent set off marketplace for around 400-500 dollars. Currently I have Eibach 2.0s and haven’t seen much improvement. I also have a set of icon 2.0s but they need a rebuild. Assuming a rebuild is about 250, would it be worth to give the raptor shocks a try.

I went with the Eibach Pro Truck on all 4 corners and was thrilled with the difference it made on my FX4. I am surprised you don't like them. I put Fox 2.0's all around on my Jeep and I will say for off road they are better than the Eibachs. IMO, Eibachs are better all use shocks. Fox shocks aren't so great on the road but I only drive pavement to get to the dirty stuff. A pair of Fox rears would run about $450. FWIW

In reality it all depends on the type of OffRoad Driving you plan on doing and what type of improvement you are looking for.

Seems like a good upgrade, I'd just get them valved for your truck when you get them rebuilt. Probably too stiff otherwise.

I don't think anyone is getting rid of their new live valve raptor setup or is trying to setup the live valve on a truck not ready for it.

Gen 1 extended/collapsed lengths should work better than Gen 2, but it's dependent on your rear lift. You'd just need a revalve for the lighter Ranger.

Why won't it work if the extended and collapsed lengths line up with your rear lift? Is it because it doesn't say Ranger on the side ?

It's been done before. I've seen gen 1 shocks front and rear for $150-200 for sale locally. Rebuild is probably the same so it's half the price of new 2.5 Ranger shocks.

Finding a good shock tuner means you can get it dialed for what you want outta the ride street, 50/50, crawling, high speed....
This Is exactly what I was thinking, as long as I can find some for a good price and with a decent tune, it would far surpass anything in its price range.

I talked to my suspension guy and he pretty much told me that raptor shocks would really be all that good of an option. He pretty much said that you would need a new shock tower point and a new leaf setup. So that the shocks aren’t always sitting inside of the bump zone. Essentially at a stock positioning the shocks would be extremely over damped and have less travel.

Seems about right. Regardless of the vehicle, you want the Shocks and Struts to match the springs and the vehicle.

Also I still have no idea what exactly what type of improvement you are looking for and what type of Driving you are going for.

Yup, it would work better on a 3+" rear lift when comparing the lengths of ranger to raptor shocks.
