Wow, I had no idea. Interesting but doesn't stainless steel rust after a few years in the weather? I know it is not a prone to rust as regular steel, but I thought they both rusted eventually?
Yup. It’s literally meant to mean “stain less”. Stainless can still rust and there’s lots of evidence of Cybertrucks already exhibiting rusting and corrosion. And that they may spontaneously die in a car wash or combust in general.

I’m all for EVs, but the Cybertruck is a garbage vehicle produced by a garbage company run by a garbage human.

You are mis-informed....
Not really....it takes some type of fossil fuel....coal/oil/nat gas. or nuclear power to produce the electricity to "maka da battery fullerr"
Batteries do not magically re-charge themselves !!! Of course, you can always park your "lectric twuck" out in a lightning storm and hope a bolt hits it.....

Its funny how many don't think about where their energy comes from...

Also, during WW ll there were many thousands of vehicles that were converted to coal power cause of the gas rationing....
So, there really were "wireless coal powered vehicles"....

Nothing like EV diehards failing to recognize the source of those magic sparks. Realistically I think the hybrid/generator combo is the best option for all uses. Hell I’d do it for the extended range. Imagine a diesel with out a DEF system and a battery setup - you’d be running for miles and miles. But with companies like Mazda pushing for more efficient ICEs, we may never have to switch.

Very true, some of Mazda's ideas are pretty cool. Hopefully we'll actually see them hit the market.

I do wonder why no one is doing diesel hybrid's, i would think that would yield incredible milage and range. I imagine the EPA's mission of killing off diesel's in this country might have something to do wtih that.

Or the increased amount of energy to build EV's in the first place.

I think it would be to complex and expensive with the DEF and injection system possibly. Compared to using it as a generator that only charges the battery I don’t believe it would need any emissions at all besides the normal exhaust. But no DEF and possibly no burn off either. You could run down the highway, generator would click on for 20 minutes to fully charge the battery, then it shuts off for another 300 miles and repeat the cycle. At least that’s my idea.

Sorry to see a SCAB owner go. They are becoming a rarity.

I've driven the lightning (briefly) and the Cybertruck (for a week) and I understand why you got the Lightning - much more "normal."

But the Cybertruck really blew me away. It's a revolutionary vehicle - controversial yes - but that's because it really is revolutionary. It's not what I need right now and the real world range on all these electric trucks suck, but the vehicle itself is really incredible. Personally, the only EV i would choose is Tesla because of autopilot and charging infrastructure, but you have a Model 3 so you're aware of those advantages. Having solar charging can start to make the lightning make sense I guess.

But I do think that dismissing the Cybertruck with a wave of a hand as "ugly" really is unfortunate. After spending a week with it, I barely scratched the surface on how cool it is - 17 inches of ground clearance and 4 wheel fly by wire steering were just 2 things I didn't expect that really blew my mind.

Insurance was 30% higher than the Lightning. There is the fingerprint issue, as well as what is going on in the world. I certainly wouldn't want to be someones punching bag because they aren't happy with what's happening (yes vandalism). Yes the Cybertruck is amazing, the 4 wheel steering is incredible. There is also the price. I would have had to wrap it ($5000) every 5 years, and it was $20k higher than the Lightning. No discounts.

Enjoy the new truck, I’m sure you will enjoy the extra room in the backseat for people and groceries! I love the super cab size (enough that I have one) but just wish the cab had a better storage solution behind the front seats.
