Ford Performance Tune - questions

Careful adding the tune yourself. Instructions are very straight foward and easy to do but for some reason it bricked 2 modles for me when I updated the tune and reflashed. First 6 or 7 times was no problem though. 2k to get everythign back and running. Still worth it.

Also, I use premium gas anyway, but am unsure from reading the threads whether gas mileage will increase or decrease. I've just gone up a tire size to 265/65/18 and it's now a little sluggish, hence why I'm considering the tune.

My FPT made a world of difference! Especially the way the gears shift. No change in fuel economy. I was told if you have a Certified Ford Technician do the Tune Warranty stays intact. Also for your consideration - Banks PeddleMonster. THAT made a HUGE difference!

Mileage difference is in your driving style after install. The tune makes it very responsive and it is easy to get into the right pedal too much.

That is below Ford Dealer cost, so great deal, but if his original deal includes dealer install that would be the way to go probably(original factory warranty will stay intact).

I just found my original deal & it was $665, shipped couple years ago from Stage3. I was dumb enough to install it myself though.

Doesn't have to be a dealer. Any ASE certified tech can do it and retain warranty.

I added a Rough Country leveling kit, Wheels and tires 275/55/R20, and a cat back exhaust. Dropped me to 18-19mpg. Added the Ford Performance pack and I went back to 22+mpg. Only Con, I have to watch my foot. It's easy to speed now.

The warranty is good for 3 years/36,000 miles from the date of the tune installation, as long as that does not go longer than the normal (extended) warranty.

I have not heard anyone getting warranty issues denied because of the tune. But, as always, YMMV.

Like any aftermarket part, if the tune causes the failure, the manufacturers warranty can be voided. In those cases, Ford Performance provides an additional 3 year, 36k mile (from date of purchase) warranty that will augment the factory warranty. Otherwise, if the tune cannot be proven to have caused the failure, the factory (or extended) warranty is still in full effect.

I did a lot of research and was unable to find a single instance where a factory warranty was voided because of a ford performance tune. At least no one bitching about it on the internet, which is what you would expect they would do if it happened to them.
