Belinda Carlisle looked good in her playboy shoot, Susanna Hoffs walked like an Egyptian and sang well, I saw neither , but I will always remember seeing Blondie pretty close to the stage in a 2400 seat arena back in 79. Debbie Harry was stunning and blondie overall were pretty good musicians. I read a review on blonde's recent tour and sadly the consensus was Deborah Harry should call it a career. She had a pretty heavy drug addiction back in the day which probably powered her performances.

We are going to BOB Fest in Smithfield again in a couple of weeks. BOB stands for Bloody Marys, Oyster and BBQ. All food is included and we usually gorge ourselves on roasted oysters. They have a band that plays every year called The Deloreans, the ultimate '80's tribute band. They rock out on everything '80's. It's always such a good time. Can't wait.

Worked at merriweather post in the early 80s. Worked pretty much most concerts from 81/82 summer tours. Met pat benatar, Adrian belew( king crimson), Aldo nova...Have only paid for Styx, Elton John, metallica and j giels. J giels put on a heck of show...but Santana was the hands down the best show that I came across live. J giels though was surprisingly good. Ozzy was the only show that I worried for my personal safety(very wild crowd). Reo Speedwagon and Rick Springfield had the station wagons full of screaming 13y old girls...it was super annoying to work them.

One good thing about growing up in MA (and there wasn't many) was we had some of the best homegrown bands. J Geils (when they were around the area) use to play the Springfield Civic Center just about every December. Peter Wolf would put on one hell of a show and always had a bottle of Jack that he'd be drinking and passing it around the audience. Their (famous) closing encore was Steppenwolf's "Born To Be Wild" where he would come out on a Harley Davidson (literally driving it) dressed in a Santa suite with a girl in a black leather bikini. It was one of the best decades and sadly I doubt they could ever get away with that now in an indoor arena.

This thread is bringing back a lot of memories and also many times when you remembered nothing. Lucky there was no cellphone videos back then. I am sure there would be some embarrassing moments for everyone?

Me and my friends talk about this all the time. The one and only concert I don't remember was one (luckily I saw them several times) ZZ Top concert. I can vaguely remember that we got to the show really early and had a bunch of coolers and a bottle of Jack, yeah you see where this is going. I remember walking staggering into the show and then waking up at my girlfriend's parents house hugging the bowl. Good thing they were super cool and really liked me because my dad would've beat my @ss. I heard (and they still never let me forget) how my friends had to carry me out of the show and I guess I fell in the middle of State St and looked up and said "look at all the lights" which were car headlights. Thank God there were no smartphones back then because we would've been in jail or in way more trouble with our parents than we already were. lol

I can relate. I remember being so stoned at an AC/DC concert, people in the crowd made a big circle around me, presumably because they thought I was going to blow chunks.

Those are good friends and most likely baked too. Thinking about it while straight the last thing I'd want to be is in your projectile path. lol

My wife is a Tull freak. We went to 6 Jethro Tull concerts over the years. About 5 years ago was the last one and he should have retired before that. He lost the high notes and was disappointing to me. My wife still loved it. I told her he is too old to rock & roll, but too young to die. She gave me the evil eye.
When younger I attended many great concerts at the New Haven Coliseum.
I had all the LED Zeppelin 8 tracks but they never played at the smaller venues I could get to.
Saw the Doobie Brothers at a free fair concert.
I have a box with over 100 old albums in the basement that I'm going to have to drag out and listen to someday

Hey Aqualung my friend........... I recall going to a Tull concert where they pretty much played Thick as a Brick albumn for the whole concert. But I'd pick the intro to Locomotive Breath as the best song opening, maybe Deep Purple 2nd, Walk this Way , Aerosmith 3rd ?

Happy to see a Kinks song on the list, I loved Ray Davies creativity.

BTW - I was in Vegas recently and checked out the Sphere - very cool but a neighbor of mine is going to see the Eagles play there, asked me if I wanted to go, he paid > $700 a ticket to go see the freakin Eagles, I responded by doing what I'm very accomplished at - told him he's out of his mind to pay that much to see the freakin Eagles. I'd be more entertained by watching Three Stooges films. I like Joe Walsh, but > $700 to see the freakin Eagles.

I volunteer usher at our local theater and we have had big names, Willie, Merle, REO, Kris Kristofferson, I got in trouble for singing along with him. Could not help it, had his Silver Tongue Devil album when I was a kid, knew every word and breaks. We have now transistioned to tribute bands to a degree and they put on a great show. The Elton John guy was great and the Queen tribute was fantastic. He did Bohemian Rhapsody but opened it with Ave Maria acapella and he got a standing ovation when he was done. Our theater is a small 1500 seat affair but a great place for a show. These days I can actually remember the show when it's over.

Went to a Grateful Dead Concert with a bunch of people, totally wasted, I think the New Riders of the Purple Sage may have opened but a bud sitting next to me passed out during the opening group, then the Dead come on and he sleeps thru all the noise, finally with 1 or 2 songs before the Dead finish their marathon set he awakens and asks "when are the Dead going to play "
