I'll admit I was surprised to see that the Ranger was ranked the second most dangerous pickup. I know we only represent a small percentage of owners out there but based on those who've been involved in some pretty bad ones here I thought it would rank a lot higher.

? They must of based their rankings from those blue ones? :lipssealed:?

I blame the wonky shocks that come standard. My truck bounced all over the place before I replaced them.
So did mine until Bilstein came to visit. I once had a Corvette that broke a shock going down a curved incline and the sensation was frighteningly similar except that it kept happening.

I've owned Pinto's, Corvair's, motorcycles that I ran over 100 mph on the Palmetto Xway in the 60's when I was young and stupid, wearing sneakers, t-shirt, no helmet......
I'm living on the Knifes Edge !!!!!
Aren't you overlooking towing a 7,000 lbs TT with a Ranger ? ?

My insurance is the exactly the same on my '19 as it was on my '07, and I just had personal liability on my '07, full coverage on my '19. I had my agent explain it.
Mine jumped 2 years ago on my Ranger. They said cost to repair them after an accident and theft of things like the LED lighting replacement cost gives them a higher rate now. I checked 2 other companies and got the same numbers. They didn't care it spends full time in my garage and not on the street like many. My wife’s Forester has a higher safety rating because most are owned by older people with low accident occurrence. Apparently nobody steals Forester LEDs ? that are really expensive with the turning mechanism to follow the steering.

Mass is the main factor in safety. And overall the ranger is doing better than the smaller cars.

but obviously rangers are tall and skinny compared to say the Tacoma. I’m sure they roll easier.

So I tend to believe this data.

It had an 4/5 crash test rating for the 19-23 models. Seems like a bit too late to retract that rating. What did they decide to start using to crash test it in order to get such a bad review? Run over it with a dump truck?

The Ford Authority "article" seemed pretty bad at best.
I agree. It was nonsense in the literal meaning of the word. Click bait, even.

Sometimes I think the writers at FA have it in for Ford. They too frequently seem to come across as anti-management (b/c they seem very pro-UAW). Often seem like biting the hand that feeds them.

On the other hand, FA will sometimes come across as a brain-dead cheerleader.

Bottom line, I read through what FA offers every day, but generally find myself holding my nose when I do. And not because of the breakfast taco....

Interesting... would like to know the process of that..
iSeeCars source article

"Methodology

iSeeCars analyzed fatality data from the U.S. Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS). Only cars from model years 2018-2022 in crashes that resulted in occupant fatalities between 2017 and 2022 (the latest year data was available) were included in the analysis. To adjust for exposure, the number of cars involved in a fatal crash were normalized by the total number of vehicle miles driven, which was estimated from iSeeCars’ data of over 8 million vehicles on the road in 2022 from model years 2018-2022. Heavy-duty trucks and vans, models not in production as of the 2024 model year, and low-volume models were removed from further analysis."

I think that is a flawed methodology honestly, because driver behavior is the wild card that isn't taken into account. As someone else mentioned, the 5G Ranger did very well on the crash tests (4/5).

This does not concern me in the least..... The Ranger is not a death trap like they want you to think it is. That article was very click baity.
