I'm sure they have but this way is safer. You know darn well someone will hit it to many times and then the vehicle will speed up to much and out of control. Can you say lawsuit? Laugh but they had to idiot proof coffee cups with a warning telling people it's hot.
funny thing have you ever looked into that lawsuit with mcdonalds and the lady who got burned? Fact is the coffee was much hotter than a cup of coffee should have been (close to 200 degrees) and she had severe 3rd degree burns all over her crotch and legs. I know the majority of ppl are stupid and sue-crazy but that woman well, I don't blame her one bit. Also she asked mcdonalds to only pay for the cost of her skin grafts and they refused never offering more than 800 bucks.

I dont understand what you mean? if i set it at 55 then spped up to 60 all i have to do is push the speed faster button once and it sets at the speed im at. Plus 1 mph maybe.
Not for me, when I use the + button, it only goes up one mile at a time regardless of how much faster I'm going. I almost wonder if this is specific to vehicles with adaptive cruise control? Mine does, and I have it disabled, along with like 90% of the rest of the technology package.

hmm ya might be I have it on. Love it to be honest nothing bothers me more than needing to tap the brake and then reset my cruise on the highway because of some slow traffic. Instead it slows on its own and when I move to an open lane speeds right back up.

But how does the attribute to a guarantee of higher mileage? Literally every scientific process followed to prove such a theory has come up with an answer of no.
I didn't say it did! I don't think it does, I had read that it can reduce carbon buildup. Now I need to verify that!

I do remember that and you're right Mc-D's was dumb for not just settling with her. My only point is it seems like everything now a days needs to be idiot proof because of the lack of self responsibility. :)

Further reading shows you are right, according to scientific America, if it's designed to run on regular use regular, premium isn't improving anything! Not an exact quote

They did a lot of that testing before GTDI was the norm. On a turbo motor, they are adding more fuel than necessary to run in order to combat knock and pre-ignition. It does stand to reason that if you're not running a low grade knock prone fuel that it would need less in order to maintain knock free operation.

oh I totally agree with you there! I just think it's crazy that the full story of the mcdonalds coffee paints an entirely different picture. Ugh could you imagine the pain she must have went through? !90 degree coffee right on the beaver.

As far as those stating high octane doesn't improve gas mileage, with this truck I disagree. It's known turbocharged engines run significantly better on high octane fuel and detonate quite easily on a low octane fuel. A smoother running happy engine in turn will certainly make better fuel economy.
As for in general, it depends on what you are driving. Most car engines were developed to run on low octane fuel with low compression ratios so running high octane is kind of like running race fuel in a standard performance engine designed to run on 93, it's not gonna do much. High octane fuels actually burn slower but they burn smoother and create a less violent combustion which is what aggressively timed, high compression and/or turbo/supercharged engines like bringing down the risk of detonation(knocking). An older truck or basic car that was designed to run well on 87 and run reliably on even lower octanes probably to the low 80's Probably isn't going to benefit much on 93 but a performance engine with more aggressive timing and higher compression or especially a turbo/supercharged engine will certainly run better and more efficient on 93 than on a lower octane.

would you purposely put a hot iron between your legs?
theres a certain degree of personal responsibility that the courts seem to forget.
most injuries are preventable if your brain functions even half ass sensibly
its different when you think your putting a hot iron between your legs but really its a red hot iron. McDonald's had no reason to brew their coffee even close to that temperature and with no warning. They had 100's of previous incidents of ppl being severely burned and yet they didn't add a warning or lower the temperature something they weren't able to explain in court by the way...
That said, it's of no doubt to me that there are some absurdly stupid people in this world and I think they are growing in numbers. Hitler was a horrible person but I gotta admit preventing stupid ppl from breeding doesn't sound so bad. It's prevented in all other types of animals for instance. If wolves allowed the weak to breed they would go extinct.

I disagree. I put my coffee from Fastrac between my legs at times because if it did spill it's really not that hot. Selling coffee at practically 200 F&^%ING degrees without a warning label isn't right and she isn't stupid for getting burned. No doubt she often used that method to add cream to her coffee but the coffee being almost 100 degrees hotter than it should have been surely weakened the cup and that's why it gave way. Personally, I wouldn't have sued but I don't blame her she was old and probably didn't have much money and she needed skin grafts on "sensitive areas" and all on her inner thighs. You realize how damn expensive that would be dude? I don't blame her one bit.
NO ONE would guess coffee to be that friggin hot.

I enjoy my coffee around 120 degrees which is plenty hot enough to scald your mouth if your'e not careful. so my almost 100 degrees was referring to 200 down to 120 which i meant as an estimate although I suppose I exaggerated a bit... Most ppl enjoy coffee between 120-140. close to 200 is insanely hot it's practically just off a boiling pot.

Anyway, it's a silly topic and I'm sure we can agree to disagree and use the server for more important topics. Also, I do see see and hear your points and consider them valid. It's just a difference of opinion.

Coffee is a pet peeve?
Lol it is in the morning to me, it drives me nuts at work when people can’t function until they have it. Shouldn’t have to completely stop everything just to make a damn cup of coffee!
