Sorry. Another post about mods.

I was just scrolling through Aliexpress.com and saw low profile gas and brake pedals for sale. They are made out of military grade aluminum. Does anyone have experience with these? Are they hard to install? Figment is universal.

There is a two pack for $39, but if we group buy we can save a couple $ on shipping. They also come in blue, pink, purple, green, yellow, and black. Let me know!

It would help if you provided a link and photos so others could see. For me a gas pedal is a gas pedal and I've never gave it much thought. Unless it's one of these classics I doubt I'd be interested.o_O

Oh yeah that takes me back. I had just gotten my driving permit, jumped in my 1984 'Vette (Chevette) and went straight to Pep Boys with a years worth of part-time wages. Got the kickazz clamp-on racing pedals, carbon fiberette shift knob (automatic), disc brake simulators, chrome exhaust tip and one of those horns that can play different animal sounds. Bolted all that stuff on and immediately lost my virginity.

He must have really liked the mods you did to your parents car.

Who didn’t want one of those?

Reminds me that we had this weird roller gas pedal in our VW dune buggy…

silodrome.com/volkswagen-thing-custom/ That would be a nice addition to one of these.
Man, it sure would. My dad had one of these (orange) It was an Arizona vehicle they kept at their place in Yuma, so it was in great condition except for some oxidized paint. He also had a desert bike, a 1986 Fiero GT, and a Honda CB850 (fully dressed) - his toys that my mother didn’t much care for.

When he passed in 1995, my sister was given the Fiero, one brother was given the desert bike, the other received the CB850. I absolutely loved the VW Thing and had talked about buying one even before he bought his, so when my mom called to tell me about the Thing, I was thrilled.

It turned out she called to tell me she had sold it and wished she had something for me too but she ”knew I wouldn’t want that “stupid-looking thing”.

Often, people just aren’t thinking straight when they’re grieving, so I told her I really didn’t need anything and hoped she got a good price for it.

This is what a good son does.
Kudos to you for protecting your mom.

Thanks Chris - maybe that’s why, almost 30 years later, she’s still baking me cookies and pies. ? ? ? ? :)

I may have said the same words as you to my mother but she probably would have noted the disappointment in my voice.

And speaking of Things...
All the women in the neighborhood think my little yellow Thing is cute.
And I'm ok with people checking out my Thing.
And yes, my wife is OK with me taking my Thing out in public.
And when some asks "What is that thing?" The answer is "YES"
I've probably heard them all...;)

Those things are soooo cool, they were imported to Australia back in the 1960's, for a while, in both RHD and LHD versions, newsagents loved the LHD ones as it made it easier to throw papers into people's yards. Same reason in the US they made RHD Jeep postals). Finding original ones now is a bit of a mission.
