So, you’ve been there a few times already and now that you’ve had a bit more of a “full-time” experience, how has that been? Are you discovering more about the area or are you just too busy with boxes still? Most importantly, how’s Annie settling in?
We have everything we need un-boxed and are settled in pretty good now. I labeled all the boxes as "extras" that we really didn't need until we get to the new house but still labeled what's inside just in case.

Annie's doing better except for the other night when we were just getting into bed and she heard the coyote howl just outside our window. lol But she's warming up to it every day and loves that everyone here is so friendly unlike AZ where people just keep to themselves.

Me, I'm loving it! It's a lot like where I lived back in MA (it's a city here but a country feel) but with more amenities. It still doesn't feel "real" yet and like we're on vacation. I guess it won't until the house starts which hopefully the GEC (grading & erosion control) permits get approved. Then they can start clearing the lot and get the slab/crawl space in.

Well, it’s certainly a big adjustment - night and day compared to the west valley but I’m glad you’re loving it and that Annie’s getting used to it. Once they get moving on the house, I’m sure the time will start to fly by. Exciting times.

It is a night/day difference and there's good and bad about both places but we were finding a lot more bad back in AZ. One thing we liked though was that a lot of things were close by like shopping and Drs while here there are some local ones but most are in Bentonville and Rogers which is about 20 mins away. Personally I think it's a small price to pay for being in a better area, better weather and way better people. Bentonville is the home of Walmart so as you can imagine there's one (along with Sam's Club) everywhere here. They are much nicer, cleaner and hardly any Walmartians like you find everywhere else. lol

While I'm excited for the house to start I'm more excited for Annie to experience it. She's never had a new house and my house in AZ (built in '07) was the newest one she's ever lived in. I've built 2 (and like you) being in the trade my whole life have probably been in hundreds of new homes. She's having fun picking out things and looking online at new ideas and of course shopping for accessories which we're already stockpiling in the spare room. Luckily it doesn't look like Pauls picture....yet!

Much better than squealing.
Glad you're settling in.
I'm back from over 5 weeks touring Canada, Montana, Wyoming and South Dakota.
Put 4600+ miles on truck. One problem with truck. Now when on interstate and passing, when it shifts down from 10 to a lower gear there is a big thud coming from the back. The truck only has 13,500 miles on it. It only started happening the latter part of the trip.
Again, anything you need help on let me know.

Hope you had a good trip besides the thud coming from your truck, hopefully it's nothing serious like the rear end. Maybe the slip joint need lubing and there's a good thread on it here.

I was going to message you and ask if you had a good Ford dealer here for service? I'm hoping to not need one but would like to have a good one to go to if that's possible. Other than that we've been getting out and around in Bentonville and Rogers a little looking at furniture and checking out the area. So far we love it and it's a huge change from AZ in many good ways! Thx!

Where you are located then McCarty Daniels in Bentonville.
As with most dealers today it's the luck of the draw as to how well they do.
I use Lewis Ford in Fayetteville because the traffic driving from south to north. You have a quick approach into Bentonville.

I'm going to post some videos in another post of the inbound and outbound to a Trophy fishing lake in Alberta. 70 KM in and 70 KM out. Isolated lake that use to be fly in only. As far as the cut road to it they said you need a 4-wheel drive. "Boy that was an understatement".

Thanks for the dealers names and if needed I'd drive a little further. II was reading the Google reviews for McCarty Daniels and they were mostly good ones. Sad that dealers are like this now and there's more bad ones than good ones out there.

Hope you steer clear of the hurricane leftovers ⛈ ?
Hopefully it tracks a different route but by the time it hits here it "should" be fizzling out. If not I'll wave as we go by. ?

I don't think the weatherman anywhere know how to forecast guess the weather anymore. Today was supposed to be sun/clouds and a 30% chance of evening showers after 8pm. Right after lunch we got this storm and it lasted most of the afternoon. It's a nice change from the relentless heat/sun every day for months on end. I use to get SAD back east but there we would have stretches of 10+ days of clouds which gets depressing.

After 9 full years in the desert this is a nice change.

You'd never survive in the PNW - We have WEEKS of nothing but gray skies and drizzle in the winter.....
