We just adopted a new passenger, a 10 week old Bernedoodle, Zelda, and while she is small enough to ride in a lap or in a small carrier for now, someday we hope that she will be able to join us on long car rides and camping adventures in my Tremor. She is expected to be about 50 to 60 pounds when full grown, but you never know.

I have read a number of posts about the different dog car seat covers, and while the posts were all informative, I thought I would ask for suggestions on what to look for and how you are liking yours now that more time has passed.

I intend to carry human passengers in the rear seat sometimes, too, so options that require seat deletion are off the table right now.

Adorable pup!

So we use this seat cover. It's easy to attach. I fold it down when I have my daughter ride in the back seat since the cover normally has dog hair on it. Only take about a min to adjust or to put back. For longer rides the foot area is normally full with our dogs bedding so she can lay down.

We have had it for about half a year and it has held up for a 10 hour there and back road trip a couple other camping trips and plenty of weekly short rides.

It's held up really well so far and it it has stayed in place. We had another one last year that was horrible and would slide around. The anchors on this one solved that issue.

I got both the one with the soft bottom and the one with the hard bottom, the dog really likes the hard bottom one, it's because the soft one gets like a hammock behind the front seat, the hard one is flat all the way to the back of the front seats. It's a bigger area for her to lay in, although... it's hard to lay on, so I added padding inside to soften it.

I really like the hammock design for protecting the back of the front seats, and the hard bottom seems like a good idea, too. Does it lay flat for you, or did you have to put a wedge underneath it to level it?

The hard bottom ones are great. It gives my two dogs more room.

It lays pretty flat. You can adjust it where it attaches around the front and back seat head rests.

I bought this one a couple of years ago: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09NHT3HX4

After the first one I had ripped - this one was twice as thick and half the cost. I thought I'd roll the dice with it - it was only $20! It has worked really well for me - I regularly carry my dog and a second dog when we go hiking. They gotten it totally dirty and I throw it in the washer and good as new. I've been really happy with it, although it is unfortunately no longer available.

That’s a great recommendation. Thanks!

I got the weather tech door protector but they easily slide out of the window channel. So I put tape backed Velcro on the tabs that insert into the window channel. I cut the pieces to fit on on the bottom of tabs. I put the softpart on the bottom. Then right above that piece I put the hook part.. it faces the door panel. Works great for my 80 pound dog.

Ah, the expense we put into our beloved 4-legged friends. We are patiently waiting to replace our mountain fiest of 14 years with another rescue dog of some sort after vacation. I still love to see all the dog lovers with great transport advice.

Here’s my 80 pound dog that thinks she’s the biggest bad on planet that terrorizes out of her window clawing and barking on the door until we let her out, then a gentle dog, go figure. Modify your weather tech to stay in place…

I like the one from Ford Accessories that covers the whole bench and back. Fits nicely. Getting name of the maker was easier and you'll find a better price. has cuts for the buckles so you can tether. This is the harness we use on our 126lbs Dogue De Bordeaux / French Mastiff / Hooch Dog;
