I am a firm believer in the UPR valve, but in the interest of science I had a 700-mile trip to do and thought why not let's see what happens

Update did some mileage testing with and without the UPR valve and seems like I lose about 1.5 miles per gallon using the UPR vent valve in my normal everyday driving
I see no reason to even consider this thing.

Sounds like the “check ball” is not seating and allowing false air into the crankcase. The system then adapts by adding fuel. At least that’s my guess on the drop in mileage. Just seems like a bad idea. ?

I'm curious for an explanation wh this would happen? If relieving the pressure doesn't improve mileage - or actually hurts it - I can see why Ford wouldn't engineer a crude way to accomplish it even if it took from engine longevity. I wonder what changes to the engine's performance are going on and how it could be logged?

I had a chat with our drivability master tech today and he seems to think it is an emissions settings issue that would case the PCM to compensate for the airflow difference

I've been running mine for about 5 months. No changes on MPG more than likely. I haven't kept close track. It dips in the winter, and goes back up in the spring/summer. Looks about like last year. No issues on drivability. I run 88 octane e15 and it feels just as strong as new.
