So, I was having the rough shifting issue like most on here. Mainly going up/down a hill and slowing down, the transmission would shift down aggressively. I was dealing with it, and if I feather the gas pedal, I was able to control most times. But it was hit and miss honestly.

I knew it's my time to deal with the transmission, and took it to a well known dealer in Indianapolis. They dismissed saying it was not the transmission and diagnosed it as a drive shaft (TSB 23-2251) , and said transmission was fine. They didn't seem to like the fact that I knew about 10r80 issues and that I was trying to figure out what is best repair avenue for my truck. I'm disappointed about this issue since, I never beat on the truck or used 4WD to off-road. The only time I used 4WD is to go up the driveway in winter snow. I bought the truck Brand New and have kept up maintenance diligently.

I took it a second dealer, they still diagnosed the driveshaft issue and also said my CDF drum has failed and they are running more diagnostics to confirm. They will get back to me today with the finer details before initiating repairs.

Question, has any of you, who've replaced/repaired under TSB 23-2350, confirmed the parts used for the repairs are updated parts? I don't want to do the replacement with the same failing parts and have the same issue 40k miles down the road. Thanks.

I’m at 32,800-miles on the odometer and am awaiting a new transmission courtesy of Ford after having the TSB done. According to the transmission tech at the dealership (so take it for what it’s worth) if they had went down the path of rebuilding my transmission, the CDF drum would have been the updated drum along with new parts. As Ford approved the low time in service option for my transmission per the TSB, I don’t have to have the rebuild done.

@Bdem62 So you went through the drum replacement process and it didn't change anything, hence you are getting a whole new transmission unit?

No, he said IF they would have done a rebuild, it would be with the updated parts. But that Ford decided to just put in a whole new transmission.

@Jason B I read it as he went through it, since he mentions "after having TSB done" in his 1st sentence.

I will see if I can get a new unit. This is my first ever Ford vehicle, not feeling great or confident about their product.

The latest TSB version is 24-2101. It drops the verbiage of optional transmission replacement with vehicles within the 3 year 36000 mile range. It now just states to follow the LTIS ( low time in service) guidelines. So i’m not sure what the range for optional replacement is now. The CDF drums have been the updated version since 08/22 so you would be getting the latest. At 57K I doubt that they would replace the transmission and most likely will repair it. But who knows ?‍♂
I have had the reflash (step 1) and valve body replacement ( step 2 ) done on my 03/2022 build with 17K and still have issues with 3-4-5 shifts. It goes back in on June 13th to be looked at. I guess that I’ll find out about the optional transmission replacement at that time.

So if the transmission gets rebuilt/overhauled, does it affect resale values? Or does it show up in the vehicle history as a black mark?

I would think that it would be a plus if the rebuild/replacement had all the updates. I would be more suspicious of one that didn’t have any mention of transmission repairs as sad as that sounds

I was also thinking more in those lines as well. Talked to some folks on IG, and I hear that after the rebuild/overhaul the issue has be resolved for the most part.

I think any major item replacement, being engine, trans or diff would be a plus for resale, or at least not degrade the value.

My 19 just had the full trans replaced and it's obviously not a low time in service vehicle being almost 5 years old. They kept pushing back saying they can't duplicate the shifts but after taking it right back after the 3rd complaint they just replaced the whole transmission. It shifts so much better now. I could hear driveline slapping noises before when it would shift at low speeds. Always and upshift or downshift from 3rd gear. Fords customer service is absolutely useless. 6 calls and every rep was clearly there to just listen. "We can't make a dealer perform a repair". Got to be kidding me. Especially when they legally admitted fault by performing the first two stages of that bulletin.

Just had my valve body changed and the shifts are smoother, but the issue with 3-4-5 is starting up again. I'm waiting for it to be slightly worse again before taking my truck back to the dealer.
