Hey Rangers - I'm sure we've all seen a lot of the transmission, heat blender, Sync and whatever other issues plague these vehicles. My prior Zr2 had similar trans issues for many, luckily I didn't experience that. I'm sure Taco's and others have their own as well. I bought mine a few months ago already beyond the 3 year warranty, got a 1 year powertrain from the selling lot (a Nissan/Mazda dealer actually) but as I approach 40k I'm thinking about an extended warranty.

Ford sells them from 1 year/10k miles up to 6 year/75k miles for vehicles beyond the initial warranty, after you also get it inspected ($200 ish there too). Not cheap, but maybe $2k for that period compared to the possible cost of a transmission and/or blend motor is a good bet.

Anyone else going through the risk/return on this? And for those that bought an extended warranty, what term and deal did you end up with? Any thoughts on the value of these? I guess there is always the risk that your issue isn't covered, that would suck twice as much!

Thanks, appreciate this group!

I bought mine before the 3/36 warranty expired and it paid for itself 2-3 times when I had the heater box replaced last month for the blend doors binding up. I did 6yr/75k for $850 with $100 deductible (you cannot get that good of a price now).

Fwiw, Tyler is gone from Granger. Jasmyn Sawyer handled my extended warranty.

It's good peace of mind. I'd spend some time here researching issues others have had before doing it because the coverage varies along with price, deductible, etc.

Figure out what you're concerned about and what coverage you need to protect those concerns and then look into the appropriate coverage.

Make sense? The top shelf bumper to bumper for 10 years and 175k miles is pretty pricey.

So maybe you are more concerned with say the trans, most are, that's a biggie. You can cover that with the power train coverage level for a lot less cheddar.

If you're worried about the blend door, you need the top level, all depends on your individual list of concerns.

Good luck.

Is that 75,000 plus original mileage?

What happened to the engine?
Started smoking on start up and losing coolant. All I know is they said the head gasket was good. I've only received two phone calls in the two and a half months they've had my truck. Should have it back tomorrow or early next week. I've got a few mods and I'm tuned, so no telling if that played a part.

Who is the best to get the extended warranty? Just call Ford?

So far I have not had to use mine.
OP lives in CA. I believe they joined Florida in not allowing extended warranties from anyone out of state this year.

I bought an 80K/8year warranty and the air issue alone darn near paid for it. I know some are having issues with their 2019s but I really have not except the hot blowing on driver issue no matter what I did. However, I have learned that is a part used in at 50 vehicles from all manufactures and it does go bad. The replacement one is supposed to have that issue fixed.
