Well its not really an emergency buuut it does change things up. I had today planned to do an oil change. Seen the Napa deal on trans fluid last week and ordered 12 quarts. Came in yesterday PERFECT!! "I will add that to my Saturday maintenance day.

I'm up at 5am and get on the O'Reilly website to order the transmission filter for pickup. They sell motorcraft and a block away.... Not in stock. Closest one that has it is a 30min trip. Okay np..ill look up Auto Zone... Not in stock..hmmm..how about Advance Auto?... Not in stock. Well guess I'll wait till 7am and call the dealer.
It's in stock and it's $95 for just the transmission filter..... Nooo thanks.

So I call O'Reilly as a last ditch effort in hopes maybe the website is wrong. Gentleman on the phone says "can have it here by 12". So not on the time line I had planned but it's better then a 1hr round trip in traffic. I'll have a motorcraft filter and a new seal for $60 and that's a win for me.

Sooo.. Nothing really informative. Just sharing my early morning transmission filter search.

Not gonna lie, felt like I was having a stroke reading for a moment.

Have you tried rockauto? Usually have filters in stock if you can wait for shipping times. Plus there's always NAPA if there's one locally.

I'm sorry I didn't write my post to your liking. I did use some punctuation. Lol

No reason for rock auto if I can get it today. According to the Napa website they did not have it in stock.

NAPA is slipping, they're usually good with filters and maintenance items.

Wasn't trying to be a dick in my previous post btw lol.

It's all good man.. It was a pretty long post.

So Napa's website doesn't actually list a transmission filter for our Ranger. Figured it was a website error and moved on.

Well I just called two local Napa's. One Corp owned and the other is privately owned.

Both stated dealer only item and they do not stock it.

Well.. I sprayed Amsoil Power Foam through the intake and Im done with the oil change. Just kinda sittin here waiting on Oriellys.. If only they knew what I had planned without me having to tell them.. Is that really to much to ask?? ??

If this harbor freight Evacuater/filler upper works as advertised, along with my Fitz Stick, I should make quick work of this transmission drain and fill....I mean what could go wrong besides... Lose bolts, break bolts, cross thread bolt holes, crack the pan and/or transmission goes bye bye. ?

Transmission drain and fill is done! I was able to get a little over 6.5q

I lost my only 1/4in extension in the frame going through that hole to get the corner bolt.

I have the Fitz stick and it helped tremendously in getting it evacuated and filled. It was so bright outside and the fluid was so thin it was hard to get a good read. That took me a bit of time but I think I'm where I need to be. I'm betting that's why the stock dipstick is a beige color and has pockets for the fluid to hold on to.

I'm not changing my transmission fluid in the 5g again. I figure by the time it's ready for it I may as well get a new transmission or new truck...
