"69 plate" has something to do with manufacture is all i can find.. 6/2019... but a little off topic comedy: want to see an old man's head explode... people who first learned the "Ranger" was an F150 option sometimes have a VERY hard time understanding that a Ranger is now (for decades) its own model... at 50 i get my 74 yr old uncle being a little confused but my 48 yr old friend not so much... things change it's not that big a deal.// or is it hahaha

I believe the Ranger name came out in the early 50's on a 4x4 conversion kit by marmon herrington on their panel truck. After that it was a trim package till 65 when it became a model name.

Wouldn't blame him, the way you guys went off the deep end. Duke was the only one who gave an answer the even applied. The European Ranger went through some minor updates and they were designated by mark numbers. We would probably call them face-lifts here in NA. Changes but not enough to call it a new generation.

It was also sold in Belgium. Kind of an Opel Rekord/Holden Commodore/Chevy II mashup.

Automakers don't always copyright names in all markets. Ford abandoned the Citation name when Edsel was cancelled, and GM picked it up for Chevrolet's X body (Citation, Pontiac Phoenix, Oldsmobile Omega, Buick Skylark). Ford holds the rights to use "Skyline"* in the US whereas Nissan uses it in Japan and other markets for their version of the Altima.

*Might be the name for the rumored $25,000 compact BEV coming in 2027.
