Context: Hey guys, I was recently digging in a forum about transmission issues. Some of the comments disappointed me.

People responded to the OP and were ridiculing him for the speeds he was driving and the activities he was participating in. In a effort to not call anyone out I will say slightly above highway speeds, and other activies involved were offroading.

My gripe: It's a bleeping truck with a turbo. How can you ridicule someone for wanting to use the motor a little? Or even worse say that the OP was having issues because they went off roading? Again "it's a bleeping truck" it's meant to be driven, and go off road a little, and not break.

My solution: if you bought your truck to wax it and let it look pretty in the driveway, good. I appreciate you and your care of your vehicle.
BUT: Maybe think a bit before ridiculing some kid with a broken truck. Maybe go watch an ad for a ranger and tell me how it's marketed to be used.

If your referring to the thread where hs's not only running at a high speed, but where he also trashed the frame rails/skid plate/tranny pan....
Speed is no big deal....truck can do it all day....trans even drops rpm's as gears change.
Criticism was toward the damage caused by off roading and than trying to claim a warranty problem.
If you off road, and come down hard enough to damage the cross members, the skid plate, and the tranny pan.....that is not a warranty problem.
You have to read at least 3/4 way into all the posts before it is even mentioned that he trashed the underneath area of the front....up till then he just mentioned problems with the trans shifting.

I don't like the super negative comments that are sometimes added, but generally good hearted silliness is what I see. That thread was a bit of a detective job because of omitted information that drastically changed the story. Gradually we learned that the pan was damaged by hitting a rock that damaged the frame crossmembers ( still not clear if fluid was lost then and caused trans damage) and that the trans was overfilled that likely caused the originally reported event. Certainly people are welcome to report what they want, but a bit unfair to ask for help and advice with critical facts omitted. The speed of 90 should not be an issue for this truck and likely had nothing to do with the issue.

We talking about the dude in florida thats trans let go during flordian highway speeds?
Not during "speed", but when the truck hopped on a boulder.....
Truck can do "speed" all day and not hurt it....

Steve (@Grumpaw ) said it above but it’s worth repeating. He did truck stuff with his truck and when he screwed up, he went running to Ford for warranty. He was calling BS on the dealer and his posts seemed to have a certain air of entitlement. He held back a crap ton of information that was later revealed and he was called out on it.

He even posted the incident that set this all in motion on his Instagram account with the hashtag: #fuckaroundandfindout

And, come on, that picture of the boulder in the middle of the trail……

I remember that post.
Yes, it IS a truck and should be able to handle things within reason.
Having said that, there is obviously more to the story. Abuse is a different thing entirely and it seems like the guy was definitely abusing his vehicle. The kind of damage he incurred was certainly not from responsible use.

To the OP....this is the poster's photo of his truck, taken from his thread, showing the Ranger "humping" some serious rocks that caused the damage.
Definitely NOT a warranty claim.....
Photo shows plenty of room on either side of the "rock mountain" that he hit....not like those rocks just jumped out in front of his truck.
In fact, due to the tire tracks leading up to the rocks, it almost looks like he intended to run over them.....
Yes, the biggie rock does look like it might have been partially buried as it appears to be "pushed up", but still no reason to intentionally aim at a partially buried mountain sized rock.

I read the OP of what I referred to, I did not see all the "cool" rock to trans pan action. Consider me hoodwinked
No harm, no fowl.....sometimes the threads get so long it's hard to follow along....but like this one it pays to read the entire thread to find out what's really going on...:like:

if he had 295/75 he might have cleared that
looks like he missed Leg Day at the gym?
you get ground clearance with bigger tires, then you get a 3.5 Lift so they clear
not sure I would take a Stock Ranger anywhere....

Collision avoidance or maybe the adaptive cruise control is at fault
