LOL, not sure! I read about it here on the forum and it sounded like an easy and beneficial update. It replaces the plastic piston on the OEM blow-off valve and supposedly provides faster turbo response. If I understand right, this is most helpful when stepping on it, backing off, and stepping on it again (like heavy highway traffic). Some of the turbo pressure is maintained to allow for acceleration to get the turbo spooled up faster - reducing the hesitation of the turbo kicking back in.

This post is what converted me and led me to read more about what this does.

I haven't done any "engine mods" so I was very hesitant about this one. I'm so hesitant about doing any engine mods that I wouldn't do a catch can one, which is mellow and it's easy to see how it can help.

Hope this helps a bit -do a little reading on the various sites that sell these as well as other posts here. Good luck! =)

Don't forget, it's a metal instead of a plastic piston, so it adds weight, thus adding more stability to the front end. This in turn, might mean the addition of either heavier duty shocks, or stiffer springs, or both are needed!!! But, that also means that weighing down the front, will give the rear a more "high" attitude.

You've sufficiently teased me. I want more.
So my plate is probably going to be V5 or so. If I do too much to it, he has offered to make it out of a thicker piece, Like 3mm.

Do you have a pic of yours installed?

Thanks!

Doesn't the cam design of a turbo engine have to change if you change the backpressure at different points of time so the turbo doesnt see damage? Does that thing affect the warranty when swapped in? Sounds like snake oil to me but may be the best thing since ice cream.

Here is my plate. I am about to redo it, and forgive the dirtiness. I'm afraid to wash my engine bay... I have a relay/fuse box on the way, being delivered tomorrow and I have been toying with the idea of getting the SDHQ terminals. I'd really like to remove a bunch of accessories from the battery and move them to a bus bar, but I haven't quite figured that out yet. I have to see how much space I have on the plate when I mount the relay box.

Yikes, I haven't a clue but I didn't see any mention of doing more than a direct swap.

I may have unrealistic expectations! =(

You're not changing back pressure, the point of the diverter is to recycle some air pressure and take the stress away from the turbo when you let off the throttle

The upgraded parts just allow the valve to open and close as needed instead of open or shut only

Or so the brochure says. You're not changing anythings function, you're allowing it to work better, progressively.

You are holding extra heat in the turbo. The stock valve blows off lower to dump the heat for turbo life and electronics controls the mixture that would probably need to be changed during the cycling. That would probably need to be changed for the swap for the different curves. I would like to see Ford engineering take on this mod before making it. It's not sensed progressively so that makes me suspicious. Did you ask your dealer about warranty and emissions changes this could affect?

I would pass it by your dealer to see if it affects warranty or emissions to be safe.

Got my relay box today. V1789675362781 rewire is ready to begin. (its really only V3)

IMG_1334.jpeg

Well... That did not go as planned and my plan has completely changed. I've just ordered the Garmin PowerSwitch, which will be here tomorrow. It has 6 ports, built in relays, and will simplify and clean up the whole installation. It was more than I wanted to spend, but... See the video for my reasoning.

did they throw the box into your bushes like they do at my house?
No. I can't complain, Fedex usually delivers packages of any substantial size to our rear deck, and usually take a pic. Amazon either the front porch which we never use, or the side porch, which we always use, but they always include a pic showing where they put it.
