Went to go pop hood yesterday and while the inside first latch worked, the secondary latch isn't working. Push the yellow lever over per usual and the latch doesn't disengage. Tried to use a long screwdriver to move the hook holding the hood down and that doesn't work either. My next step is to get a long 10mm to undue the latching bar attached to the hood so I can get in to try to diagnose what happened with the latching mechanism. Anyone else run into this issue or have an idea what might have happened here?

There is likely a rodent under the hood, pulling down hard on the catch loop while the other one munches away on your wiring harnesses. ;)

On a different vehicle, I had to push the hood down a tiny bit when engaging the yellow lever. Just a thought - maybe try that - mind your fingers.

A socket may have rolled in there and is jamming it up.
