i just watched a movie with matt damon called downsizing. I think if i were matt damon id be ashamed of my self. it was a terrible movie lol. however, it had a great message to it. i had to stomach and sift past the shenanigans but it was ok. some of it was really funny / stupid at the same time. apparently 8 types of F%$# exist for americans. i wasnt aware of this...

Is it just me, or is there a dearth of good TV shows and movies lately?

I know Hollywood will blame everything on the strikes, but even when they do put something out it usually rises to the level of "OK" at best.

Even Pixar, which used to be as close as you can get to a surefire hit, has dropped some real stinkers.

I have to keep reminding myself that the writers and creative talent that made Pixar so good have all either retired or left the company.

The new generation of writers seem more inclined to try and fix my antiquated thought processes than they are to tell an engaging story.

There's a new Sci-Fi show out called Beacon 23, based on the book by Hugh Howey (same writer as Silo) and it is a prime example of merely "OK". 5 episodes in and I'm about to cut bait as it's not really hooking me.

Silo was much better.

so i watched a movie called Confined tonight. its from 2010 and has no big stars. has a guy from Jag from the 1990s and a pretty lady as his wife. It is based on a true story... suspenseful. also made me feel like i need a better home security system and a new shotgun. some twisted people out in the world. its a predictable movie of course but worth a watch. free on Tubi.

Silo was much better.

I found Silo compelling and worth the time to watch.

I spent 6 years in Bunkers when in the USAF, 3 years 2500' underground at NORAD CMC. Silo makes the NORAD facility pale, and NORAD is quite an engineering feat, even now.
