Soon as the weather turns a bit nicer I was going to install the TBC. Thought I had read that it was pretty straightforward. Watched an install video that seemed to confirm that.

What then would the kerfuffle be? May I ask you - when you have a moment - to point me to some threads (or the like)?

Thanks, in advance.
Most TBC's are connected to the brake signal coming from the pedal. On Rangers, it has to be connected to the CHMSL, that is the 3rd brake light over the rear window. Because of this, you have to get the TBC from Ford that has an extra module. You could connect it to the brake pedal, but the trailer brakes won't be activated if Pre-collision activates AEB.

Awesome! Thanks for the info. I did buy the Ford version (thankfully). I'm hoping no other programming needs to take place. But I guess we'll see.

Again, thank you.

Fun fact! The "HD" in HD Radio does not stand for hi- definition, it stands for "hybrid digital", which is roughly how they can get 3 or so different signals from one frequency

Learned that from my Radio Shack days working with an engineer who specialized in that stuff
I had HD radio in my '97 Escort Wagon, aftermarket of course. I was amazed at the sound and it was so obvious when I had picked up an HD station.

FWIW, my 2012 F-150 FX4 had the HDD storage. You'd put a CD in to the CD player and there would be an option to rip it to the 200MB (I think) HDD. Came in very handy.

But with the ability to use the USB port with, for example, a SanDisk Ultra Fit mini flash drive with MP3 files on them (the 2012 could do this too, but reliably worked only with drives of 64GB or lower; my Ranger easily handles 256GB) I can't think of any reason a newer vehicle would have an HDD.
Yup! I had a 2011 F150 FX4 that had the same set up. Came in handy when I'd borrow a CD from someone and just load it into the stereo. Love my Ranger, but sometimes miss the F150 (before it started to nickel and dime me. lol)

No other programming needed for the truck. There is a procedure to calibrate the TBC which should come with the controller.

Try This:
Launch Google Maps on your phone. Then Account - Settings - Navigation settings.
Make sure the Play Voice over Bluetooth feature is enabled.

I use the Sync-Nav, but I think this setting may need set.
Thanks - that’s already enabled but I’ll activate “Play as Bluetooth phone call” and see if that makes a difference.
So, I went on a little road trip today and Google Maps directions are no longer muted - they show as a phone call on my screen but come and go w/o having to answer the call or hang up. Looks funny but it works, so, I’m happy with that.

Thanks again!
