Tall door are great for a class A RV which I'd love to have...but I'm really not into driving down the road at 70mph with a "barn" strapped on my bed and getting down to 12mpg lol...low and aero is my way to go...

I'm thinking 1/2" finished Birch or Poplar plywood wrapped with Magnetic vinyl?...next step is to calculate how many sheets is needed...so far, I've managed to squeeze this package down to an overall height of 80" from ground...3" spare clearance to top of garage opening...I'm not sure there's enough room for insulation or is needed...this is basically a "hard sided" tent...might line the interior with marine grade carpet and leave it at that...it will have heat and AC that will more than compensate for this Micro Camper...

I have a feeling if I sat in your topper I would like a can of busted biscuits.
Thanks for the vote of confidence lol...

Roof bracing coming soon...I'll make sure it'll survive a fallen limb...

Sure would make things easier if I had a garage sized 3D printer...I guess 1/8th scale will have to do for now...next step, dismantle my RTT setup and use 1" foam to get accurate bed size...adjust CAD data accordingly...then I'll know how much material I will need...anyone know who makes a 1/8 scale 5G Ranger RC truck??

I think Z-channel aluminum extrusion will work as an effective custom door seal...red represent where a compressible rubber bulb seal will be attached (1/4" closed)...

Retired from Honda Racing.
Build a reverse buck (mold) and lay in carbon fiber, a complete carbon fiber shell, and add in various bracing at the key stress points, openings and bulkheads, just like how they make a carbon fiber racecar chassis, nothing is lighter.

Carbon fiber is easy, you actually don't have to autoclave it if you are going to paint it, but it really helps with the air.

But what a mess it can be, and itchy.

I know, shut up and get back to my dipsticks

YES! I've been going back and forth how to execute this project...sticks and ply, hybrid sticks center fuse with mold side caps...options, options...I've never built anything like this on any scale so it's all new to me...I have the interior almost sorted out with built in AC and diesel heater for a cozy one man capsule...who knows, maybe I'll build the plug and have a CF pro do the lay up...any advice is always appreciated, Mike!

I'm using Flated but since our truck has short bed, I need an extender tent. I'm thinking about building and automatic riser to go up vertical for head room.

Is that an air tent? Those are very light and strong...not sure if you've read back on my design intent but I'm trying to solve a short bed camping problem that hasn't been 100% addressed out in the market, yet...

1-hard sided
2-sleeps two adults perpendicularly
3-low enough (83") to park in 7' garage door
4-sleeps one but with lounge/work space separate from bed
5-self sufficient, 4 season with AC + diesel heat powered by Ecoflow Delta 2
6-lightweight

Moon Lander is close but too tall to satisfy #3...is clamp on cap design so insulating/sealing bed will be DIY...being low and aero is important to me...
