I'm leaning towards giving up some bed space going from full (54" wide) to single (30" wide) bed (20" bed to ceiling) in order to contain the entire "LUNAR MODULE" within the 5' bed and be able to keep the tailgate on...it's cozy to say the least but would fit a 6' guy with enough room to fully stretch out within the 76" wide box...the lounging area is 26" wide x 76" deep x 44" tall...should fit my Strongback low folding chair at a comfortable distance from a ceiling mounted 40" diagonal...there's enough room below the bed area for plenty of storage and a 5,000 btu AC...there's room to sleep two very comfortably if necessary...

Wide open...built in 5,000 btu AC and 15 cubic ft of storage...with a bed extension, this can sleep 2 comfortably...

I think this will work...yes...now which way to go? Stick and foam? Foamy, fiberglass? Composite panels?

Quite the undertaking Sid, but I like the design.
Naaa...turning a trailer into a camper is challenging...this little drop in camper should be quite manageable...I can picture movie time already...missing the bottle of beer in hand...:p

shoot i want one! make it manageable for one person to put on and take off. and make it cheap lol.
I've seen home builds with pop up top that overhangs the cab that weighed in at around 600lbs...pretty good achievement IMO...I'm targeting 200-300lbs for this one man topper...since this will be able to fit under a 7' garage door, I plan on installing a ceiling pully lift system for mounting and storing...cheap comes by the way of DIY lol...
