Thanks Steve,
Yes, that has rattled around in my head, the target was $150 based on the OP's very first post, really in basic terms even $150 is high, you can get one for a older Chevy one for $35 on Amazon.
Then I bumped it up to $169, I know that whatever I sell them for, the first batch is just the trial batch, if it proves out, then it's larger quantity parts orders (less cost, more profit) and move on to selling a proven product, or make necessary changes, move forward.
So to me the initial sale price did not represent much in the way of profit, but was huge in establishing the product, without the feedback I will get from you guys/gals, it's just "I've made a dipstick for sale, I hope everybody likes it"
But, it occurred to me that the price I set now has to be the price I set going forward, who would be happy having to pay more for the second batch? or third? (I hope there is a third)
It's crazy, in my simple mind I thought, "I'll just make a stick, that's easy" made them before as well as many, many hoses in tight places (ALMS, Indycar, Stock cars, and sports cars) and yeah, it was a tight fit on the Ranger.
It's the business side of it is what is so encompassing, large quantity parts ordering, overseas money transfers, as well as all the regulations, especially here in Ca, I almost missed the prop 65 nonsense, gotta get a sticker and determine all the hazardous materials inside, and so on, but it's been a good experience, who says a old dog can't learn new tricks, retirement has been busy
Anyways, after a overly long response, we'll see about the price
