Question - are we able to fill the trans from the dipstick opening? Like we wouldn't need to get under the truck, remove it and fill normally?
I'd assume using a funnel to filled through the dipstick is the logical method...the only catch is how to know when to stop before overfilling?

We still have annual "safety" and "smog" checks. It is nothing more than a scam. Tennessee and South Carolina both stopped these years ago and have the same safety record as we do here in North Carolina. They simply plug into the diagnostic port and check for codes.

NC has them too...you know it's a scam because brand new vehicles are required to be tested...but if it's 20 years or older, you don't...everyone knows that as car ages, they get cleaner and safer...

Exactly the same way you know when you have to do it under the truck! :)

Oh right...fill the pan to right level then bolt it up to the crank...easy...

Seriously tho...filling with an extended dipstick tube could potentially cause over/under filling yo yo cycle...

How do you figure Sid ?
While trans fluid is hot, measure and if low, fill a little bit at a time till it hits the right mark.
Looks like Mike has done a lot of measuring and testing to get the fluid markings on his stick at the right point. I'd use his markings right from the start.
On me B&M I tried as best as I could to get the right mark on the stick, filed a mark, and hope I'm right...I did have to add to it, but even if overfilled a bit, shouldn't cause any proplems...hasen't yet after around 4000 miles.
I'd use Mile's marks over mine.

A little at a time is the way to go then...

I will tell ya that when I added to mine via the B&M, using a small funnel it was MUCH easier than fighting with under the truck.

Wouldn't it be the usual method?

You know what the capacity is, you fill most of it, or just shy of a quart from full and start checking, topping off as needed.

I'm wondering about the amount to add if the fluid is...say...one mark lower than optimal?

A little bit at a time till level required is reached. All questions work at first.
