The best to happen is these new vehicles will have increased towing capacity. So they can pull that ICE generator on a trailer behind them to always have charge capability. Also give range enhancement.

There's a ton of $$$ going into this, I hope what Toyota is saying is true.
To me this is like 1995 with computers, they just doubled every yr(speed/memory), so we will see solid state coming on strong soon, I hope.
I can't afford a EV at these prices, need to be closer to 30/40k.
I like the idea of EVs but oil is not going away, for transportation yes, but
we still need the dinosaur goo.

Electric will never completely replace dinosaur goo for transportation.

The US had a battery breakthrough and sold it to China.

the law passed designed to prevent that sort of thing is long overdue, it's been a few yrs but IIRC there is also section of the tax code that allows companies breaks for relocating manufacturing to China.

its almost as if someone does not want all of us to have transportation readily available randomly at our own will. where do we all really need to be going.

ive heard the change from horse buggy anti automobile bit several times now, cool story bro. except no one outlawed horses and buggies as legal transportation. no passed laws saying feed or horse shit was illegal. The new modes of transportation were simply introduced to the market and those that wanted them with the money / means went for it. others stuck to the horse. some still do, and yes even in the usa and not as recreation many use methods other than cars. Ev is being forced by law with a time limit set. sounds a lot like some of the things that took place in another large nation a few decades ago. That nation didnt last to be part of the ev argument. if folks wanna buy an ev with money they earn - great. if others want to walk, run, ride animals, buses, trains or whatever else then great. it should be a choice freely made by free people.

Difference is solid state batteies don't contain transistors. The 'solid state' refers to the electrodes and electrolyte. So Moore's Law doesn't apply here.

I understand, but for clarification, the previous poster was referencing Moore's Law without stating it.

Could you imagine the charging lines at the local electrical substation? Because I know my house ain't got the current needed to put 900miles of energy in a battery in 10 minutes.

I just realized some electricity scalper could pull up to charging stations and offer to charge up NPC's EVs for a high fee and if the line is long enough they will pay it. And all it takes is a pickup truck and a generator. If they are extra motivated they could sabotage a few charging stations the night before.

Reminds me of this old quote:
"Speaking of which, buried in the foreign aid reports last year, I discovered something — we give foreign aid to China. So government is so dumb, it is literally borrowing money from China, to give it back to China, while paying interest on it."

I feel like I might be dabbling in things that are loosely related. I think I said it once, but this one I’m keeping a promise to get it right back on track… 5G rangers all the way!

I was always hoping they would make the super capacitor, somehow work in place of a battery for quite some time. You know, minimize, toxic shit everywhere… What do you think, 10 years out from that being one of the big topics in the news?

( You know, the sky is falling news filled with idiots who stand in thigh, deep water, that is running really fast just because that report means so much more when you’re right in the middle of a completely irresponsible and dangerous spot where you might have to be rescued and put others in danger!)

It’s been along time since I thought of the super capacitor, but for those who don’t know, it stores, short bursts of energy, such as the electric buses in cities, so, when they go through an intersection, there is a point where they disconnect from the power line.

That’s where the super capacitor kicks in and gives it I want to say five or 10 seconds of power, enough to get over to the power source without any hiccups.
I suppose they could also have an extra battery with an isolator or relay, but I haven’t ever really gotten into that, and the most I ever did was to lower end, JL subs.

Although I did have a boat in 2010… the tower speakers were 10 inch woofers with horn loaded compression driver tweeters (that’s essentially what they use for concerts). I had an amp for that pushing 250 W RMS to each, so I imagine the peak was pretty high. Then a five channel amp, pushing a sub and four speakers in the boat.

That’s where I realize that if you ran it off of a separate battery, as I had t
o marine deep cycle, batteries, didn’t have to worry about anything dimming!

I was an OG for wake surfing. I started in 2002 and that brought me to centurion boats who were fairly forward-looking so that was their thing. People would stop and just to watch, wondering what the hell I was doing about 15 feet away from the boat, no rope, doing more of a surfing action. Ahh the good old times.

That was when I could customize a boat straight from the factory with virtually every option and be nowhere near $100,000. There’s no denying that the purest wake surf boats are absolutely amazing, but really they better be at $150,000 plus. And kudos to centurion because they joined the cartel of expensive boats L0 Al, Mastercraft, Malibu, Nautique, centurion,… There’s other good ones, but those ones are in the family lol.
