I know some have had problems with theirs here but overall this looks good for the Ranger. Nothing's perfect especially anything that's mass produced so having the Ranger lead the way for the mid size is a nice surprise. :like:

The Ford Ranger has earned plenty of praise for its reliability since being reintroduced to the U.S. market a few years ago, landing on Consumer Reportslist of the most reliable vehicles multiple times, ranking second in the mid-size pickup segment in J.D. Power’s 2022 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS), topping the same organization’s 2020 Initial Quality Study (IQS), finishing second in the 2021 IQS, and moving back up to first last year. Now, J.D. Power has released its 2023 U.S. Initial Quality Study, and the Ford Ranger has once again topped the mid-size pickup segment, too.

The Ford Ranger managed to actually tie the Jeep Gladiator for first place this year, as both of those mid-sizers beat out the rest of their competition, along with third-place Maverick, which is actually a compact pickup. Regardless, it’s yet another feather in the cap of the current-gen Ranger, which is bowing out after the 2023 model year in the U.S. and is set to be replaced by an all-new, redesigned model.

i dont mean to stir up discontent but a Ranger and Jeep - any model being tied for reliability sorta feels like most average of the sp. ed class...
I hear ya but one thing you have to remember about Jeep is they sell a butt load of them. So you're going to hear about more issues with them then other brands selling a lot less. I know a lot of people who have owned Jeeps (along with Cherokee's) and have nothing but good luck with them. So much they've bought another and still have had the same good luck. Then there are those who get an unfortunate lemon with either (or any) brand. The problem is most don't write reviews when they have great experiences they go online to complain when they have a bad one.

I'm guilty of that myself. ✋ If you ever saw my Yelp reviews you'd think I've never eaten at a good restaurant in my life.?

Corporate drone. Dilbert's world is alive & well.
They fixed that by putting a large tilt in the back so one side is low enough.
Oh! Glad you mentioned that!!!!

So, one morning last weekend, while hanging out in the garage with the Ranger drinking coffee (yea I still do that), I remembered various comments about one side of the rear being lower. Grabbed one of my levels and proceeded to place it at various points from L to R on the bed. No deviation. It is level. :like: And yes my garage floor is level. My truck has no lean. Must be the blue.

Now that is obviously measuring only along the top edge of the bed. I've also seen the various posts where folks are measuring from the bottom of the frame rails to the floor and comparing side to side. I did not do that. Just stuck with the bed. That whole frame thing is just way too damn anal for me.

Kind of interesting. I’m sure the Taco bros aren’t happy. Probably saying that ford paid JD power or consumer reports off.

But if ford paid them off I imagine they’d focus on the big seller F150 (consumer reports said avoid) or the Explorer (also “avoid”). Why waste money paying for a good review of the low volume, end of life 5G ranger ?

this is true. I do feel that Jeep has had some distrust along with FC / Daimler brands the last few years that they did not directly deserve. I can say the best truck ive ever owned was a dodge. I abused it relentlessly and it just kept on going. I like my ranger a lot. the karen transmission aside and shocks, the trucks been totally reliable for 31k so far.

I still like my truck, no issues at all. Not happy with the "beer can" sheet metal though (as another member put it) as I have another dent on my hood . Coincidentally which I noticed the day after I cleaned my gutters and accidentally hit the truck with the "stream" setting of the water hose while on the ladder ?. I seriously doubt that's where it came from if I'm being honest, but during that time we didn't have any bad weather/i.e. hail and the spot when the ding is roughly where the water hit, so I'm blaming the water...and my aim ?.

Seriously though, it's a truck, that will get used off-road, not a show car. So I'm sure more dings and scratches will make it's presence soon enough. Battle scars ?

Geez, everybody else must really suck.

My office is on a major business route with a lot of car dealers including the Ford dealer where I got my Ranger (how many dang Chinese nail salons does one city need?). There are a whole lot of non-Jeep dealers with a whole lot of pretty new Gladiators on their used lots.
Reminds me of when I was a salesman at an Olds and Cadillac dealer in the mid-80's. Pontiac had come out with the Fiero and they were selling like hotcakes. Us salesman were pissed that we didn't have something similar to sell. My boss said, "Don't worry it's a POS, most people won't like them." Sure enough he was right and in less than a year there were a lot of Fieros on used lots all over the county.

Jeep "jeeps" and gladiators line used car lots everywhere. I think stay at home mommy and hipster dad buys them and then realizes they are not what they think they are Hence, so many for sale on the used side.
My GF has had 2 of the grand Cherokees and loves them. No trouble from either one.

And as AZ says, when you have a trouble free car you don't tell anyone. First bit of trouble and everyone knows. I know I'm guilty of it. Over all I am satisfied with the ranger. I am really happy with the MPGs in this mid size truck. I still don't understand the attachment some have to their vehicles. I drive em and get rid of them. ?
