If your idea of fun is sitting around listening and playing various musical games that all revolved around either Billy Joel or Elton John, then sure it's a blast. I'm dead serious too, every single one we went to they had songs from those 2 and that was it. They even had a musical in the main theater and it was music from those 2 singers.
sounds like yall were on the wrong boat lol
ever see that movie boat trip...

Can't say I have seen it. This one was Carnival and we wanted to hit up Alaska for our 25th anniversary, the dates worked out & I didn't care which ship at that time. I would consider a Royal Carribean cruise as I have ZERO interest in doing another Carnival one.

the royal carribean is a nicer line. carnival is not trashy or bad, but seem to be tuned to a certain crowd. no idea if it is true but i heard a story that back in the day the first ccl ship to leave on its first trip with paying passengers had a major engine problem a day into the trip. so passengers were getting mad and wondering why they were not moving etc. so the boss of ccl at the time said open all the bars and entertainment stuff on the ship and all drinks free until underway again... as you can imagine the passengers did not complain much after that and were not in a hurry to get moving again. ccl lost money on that trip but next ship they setup had twice as many bars and they offered the alcohol pass up front with bookings.

The clientele they cater too does tend to be more on the trashy side. I have watched a number of videos of Carnivals caribbean cruises and also belong to a couple different FB pages...no way would I go on one of those.

And I swear they use the cheapest watered down alcohol too, we had the drink packages which weren't cheap and they limit you to 15 per day, never even got a damn buzz and there were days I had 12-13.

Reminds me when we were in Barbados at an All Inclusive and no matter how much you drank nothing happened....unilt 1 day I handed a bartender named "Elvis"....yes that was his name..a $20 bill. He made me a Bajan long island that kicked my ass and everyday after that he used real alcohol for my drinks.

We did 1 Carnival cruise and that was enough. One of the people at our dinner table was one of the men they give free cruises to in exchange for them interacting with the guests that were single. He was like a summer John on the ships with free everything. He said it was to attract groups of women to come back for more singles cruises and he could start a party at any table or event. There's a lot of entertainment going on on Carnival cruises you don't see and that's probably how they can get away with skimping on the food.
One of my favorite side trips was a Jolly Rodgers pirate Criise in the Caribbean. What a fun day. Pulled up to an amazing cove and they had 5 gallon buckets of punch spread throughout the beach. Ropes and gang planks to jump from at the ship and a beautiful beach with great music. After drinking 150 prof rum punch for a couple hours I got carried off the ship on a board like many others.

Almost forgot. You have to try to smuggle alcohol in your bags. You drop off your bags when you first board and a couple hrs later your bags are delivered at your room you don’t carry them on.

If they find your liquor they will confiscate it and leave paper in your bag that says they found it and at the end of the trip you get the EMPTY container. But that’s as bad as it gets.

If you successfully smuggled it onboard then just buy the soft drink free refill package and save buku bucks. My wife and I live a comfortable living and we are not poor but it’s kinda a fun thing we do.

Only once did they catch one bag with the booty. They have a couple hrs to go thru a bazillion suitcases before the ship sails. They can’t get it all.
Or you can buy some when you stop and go onshore. One of our Caribbean cruises left from Puerto Rico. We had some time to check out the town before the ship departed and one thing we did was rum tasting. So we bought some rum and brought it onboard with us. No one batted an eye.

I can't remember the cruise line we took to Alaska (not Carnival), but the drink package was unlimited. Why else buy the drink package? One of our favorite stops was after dinner for the alcoholic coffee drinks. Freakin' delish!

I don't know about other cruise lines but Carnival limits everyone to 15 alcoholic drinks & it doesn't matter if you have the package or are buying them individually.

Every cruise has an art auction. It’s a good way to spend and hour or two. The champagne is free (I know you guys are seeing a pattern here with me and refreshments). You don’t have to purchase anything it’s fun and interesting.

There will be 300+ pieces of art. There is rarely any bidding war. Each one we attended there was maybe 20 people. You ask what is the starting price during pre bid pretty much that is what you pay if you want it. But it does go thru the bidding process. Lots of sports memorabilia, collectibles, paintings, and posters.

We always wind up with at least one piece every cruise. We have Peter Max, Kransky, Warner brothers cartoon giclee prints, and a few other items. They also give away free art.

If the auctioneer ask for people that like this poster just raise the bidding number because they are about to give it away for free. Don’t be scared about accidentally bidding on a Rembrandt etching, there will be some of those to check out.

We had fun at the Art auctions but just bought prints on the way out. This was from a Bermuda cruise and once I built a frame my wife loves it. It's about a 20 x 24 print that was rolled in a tube.

This was from a New England, Nova Scotia, St Lawrence cruise

This one was bought drunk and I have no idea why. Local artist prints like these were very reasonably priced. Hit the wine tasting event also. Taught me not to just chug it from the bottle

That's messed up. 15 sounds like a lot, but if your pacing yourself, it's nothing.
