Living in south Tennessee I hardly see any road salt and such but my rocky road sliders have held up great! I agree that lining or possibly even powder coating may be your best option if you want to keep the ones you have. If not and you are looking for a replacement check out rocky road in Utah. They are jam up!

The OP’s sliders mfg hasn’t been disclosed yet but opinion on here seems to hint that that you’re telling him to replace them with what he already has .

That's not the brand...

I have the same sliders and the only rust I have is where I smacked the snot out of them and took the powder coating off. Basically, I used them and have to deal with the upkeep.

Do other people in your area with different brands have rust issues? Environment plays a factor. If others have the same issues, I don't think its a brand issue.

Those are for sure NOT rocky road outfitters.

I see some rust on various vehicles but I’ve never noticed any sliders being super rusty. So, yea, I may be way off in offering another option of slider but I also suggested line-x (or the like) or powder coated.

The brand I suggested comes with a pretty heavy “wrinkle coat” pain job that I have chipped in a few places and there is the smallest amount of rust there at the bare metal but it cleans right off and I hit it with some black paint. Again, mine have seen road salt maybe 3 times. Just offering up options.

I thought you had White Knuckle sliders? The pics show a different mounting than the WK sliders. Or am I seeing it wrong? ( WK has clamp bolts top and bottom. One of the pics shows clamp bolt at bottom and one into the frame). Also there’s a decal that appears to have the letters A & D at the end.

the companies name ends in... Offroad...

I don't want to specifically say, because the OP might still be working with them.

from the pictures it looks like they have the steps of manufacturing the rock sliders out of order. powder coat finish should go on each independent part, and then again on complete set to prevent welds and nooks from rusting. in the pics you can see where a lot of the rust could have been prevented with a lil more plan and time to the process.

I can confirm these are from White Knuckle. So far they have refunded me the $190 cost of the powder coat option but I haven't heard back from them on whether they can do anything else. I asked what kind of warranty is included and did not receive a response.

To address the question of how they are made. I can only confirm that the top plates and slider tubes are separate pieces that came disassembled and I had to bolt the top plates on when I installed them.

I finally found a local company that will sandblast, "zinc rich prime" and powdercoat them for $450. He seems to think they were not finished properly but will hold up with the way he would refinish them. I'm a bit skeptical but since they are local I could always go back to them if I have issues.

Now I just need to get them off the truck which might be a challenge. I used anti sieze on the bolts but am still concerned about getting them off and being able to reuse the bolts to reinstall them.

I had ordered sliders from them seven weeks ago. They send it in two packages. The main package weighs 145 pounds and is the two rails (I ordered DOM with no top plates). The second package weighs 17 pounds and is the hardware and install instructions.

I received the primary package last week which was right in their estimated window for delivery. The second hardware package was lost by UPS however. They were excellent to communicate with and quick to respond by resending me the hardware package that I just received now today at no additional cost.

The rails were received in good condition. The powder coat appears to be a semi gloss with quality application. They were very well packaged. The backing plates in the hardware package appear to be a lower quality matte finish and were scuffed down to bare metal in several places. I think I will spray paint the backing plates before I do the install this weekend.

The nuts and bolts are an amber color. Is that stainless steel or galvanized? Do you recommend I treat them with anything before installing?

The instructions say the following..."The powder coat finish by White Knuckle Off Road Products LLC will carry NO warranty or guarantee of any kind. The powder coat finish is provided as a service only."

I think it was very nice of them to refund the OP for the cost of the powder coat because they were apparently not obligated to do that. My experience with them has been very good.

I live at high elevation in Colorado. Magnesium Chloride is what they put down on the roads here, which is suppose to be less harsh on vehicles than the salts used in the northeast.

Any suggestions on how to care and prevent rust from initial installation?
