Sadly right now their only competition is RAM, and that's for last place.
Should a recession hit CEO Farley might not be smiling and could have that hand extended palm up on a Detroit street corner.

Jokes aside this forum has some excellent information and perspectives, posts pointing out :

- cost of autos continuing to set new records
- amount of monthly car payments at all time highs and interest rates likely to rise
- auto loan defaults on the rise
- pent up spending from covid 19 and incentives on the decline
- inflation continues to erode spending power
- EVs pace of sales growth may slacken in 2023 especially in the higher priced EVs.
- complexity of autos keeps increasing

So continuing supply chain issues, quality problems, consumer perception aided by numerous negative articles might make for tough sledding for CEO Farely in 2023.

It is very sad to see. I really hope they can figure this out and turn things around because all the finger pointing isn't doing any good. It's an eye opener when reading the comments on these types of articles and also YouTube videos. What was once very positive is now full of complaints. Most of what we see here on the forum about the bad service at the dealerships.
I'm fortunate that the service dept at Rowe Ford in Westbrook Maine has been great for me. I can honestly state I don't have the same issues many here have with the dealers they purchased their Ford from.

He's tapped out from a recent bad purchase - talk about overpaying - plus he's recently made the Guiness book of records :

Elon Musk can add a new title to his resume: Guinness World Record holder. The “Technoking” of Tesla made it into the record books thanks to an abysmal 2022 which saw his fortune shrink by $182 billion, the organization announced Friday in a release that cited data from Forbes.Jan 10, 2023
And the steering wheels are falling off.

Yeah, I’m hoping Ford can right their ship soon. Between all of the recalls and botched new vehicle rollouts, it’s even giving me second thoughts about buying a new Ford and I’ve been pining for a new Ranger for years. Add the supply chain mess and the inability to produce enough vehicles to meet demand leaves me wondering what I’ll be driving at the end of the year? Likely the same old F-150 SuperCrew I’ve been driving for the last 21+ years. ?

I don't want to sound like a downer but it doesn't surprise me at all. Between screwing up every new vehicle launch in the last 4 years, along with the plethora of problems on their vehicles, lackluster dealer support, and what I observe to be a culture of indifference and putting out mediocre products, I would be more concerned if they were ranked towards the top.

i guess on the upside the more bad ink ford gets more likely they are to get things squared away. hopefully.
i sorta feel like many of the big bizz has the consumers over a barrel at the moment. people still buying from them just feeds it. i think most of these issues are on purpose and faked / forced. we found out recently ford and others were cutting back production on purpose. thats just one example. eggs the price of printer ink lol. They have had an easy out to say covid 19, labor shortage, parts shortage, supply issue, uni brow, inflamed prostate or whatever other excuse. they do have us by the short curly hairs at the moment. we need our transportation. our options are limited and some are limiting supply, hiking prices, and selling through dealers who do not get paid properly to service warranty issues. its tough to blame a dealer for being less than ethical on prices. so as much as i love to flame up the dealers this is not only the dealers fault. if i was a wheel at another car manufacturer id be taking notes on the competitions actions and waiting for the moment to play the knight in armor to save the day card for consumers. long dollar profit to be had when that card drops.

I agree with Jay Leon’s stance - Auto companies should be run by engineers. Successful engineers understand problems and problem-solving on a whole other level. They tend to be practical and honest/up-front.

I've always had good experiences with my GM vehicles at dealers.
Ford? First time I ever told a service writer to suck my ****. Ford dealerships are the worst.

And yet GM is trying to buyout salaried employees to cut costs. Time will tell but in the next two years I’ll be in the market to buy again and will be looking around at whose company is still stable and producing quality products. With several like dodge and all EV automatically ruled out.
