I for one applaud my governor.
"Speaking to reporters after Wednesday’s annual State of the Commonwealth address, Youngkin said his administration “felt that the right thing to do was not to recruit Ford as a front for China to America.”"
https://royalexaminer.com/youngkin-...fforts-in-virginia-over-concerns-about-china/
GM is in bed with the Chinese as well.

Back when O dissolved GM management and shafted the stockholders, a decision was made to keep Buick over Pontiac even though Pontiac sold more units in the USA than Buick. You see the Chinese love Buicks! The car to own when you have "financially arrived" in China is a black Buick. So GM kicked Pontiac to the curb ( and its US sales ) in favor of the business unit in China.

See more Rivian SUV's and Pickups than I do Bronco's and Rangers around my neck of the woods.

Rivian was interesting at first, but in real life, and IMO... They are UG - LEEE

Unlike commuter cars trucks are an awkward EV choice. Like SUVs hybrid makes far more sense. Beyond initial expense the maintenance and ROI of a full-on EV is still marginal with the complications of electric charging thrown in.

My brother has the title of the world's fastest electric el Camino he built so I'm familiar with these topics.

Maybe their trying to figure out how Ram can claim a 500 mile range while Ford can only do (maybe) 300.
Note that Ram is only "claiming" 500 while Ford is actually "doing (maybe) 300." Still, this is not welcome news for people considering E.V. for their next truck...

I thought they actually look pretty cool haha. To each his own I guess :like:

I like the Rivian a lot, but the price is bonkers and the charging situation is not where I need it to be for vacations and road trips. Don’t wanna have to map out an exact route, I like to just pack up the truck and go.

Unfortunate news about the Lightning. Can they do OTA software updates? I’d imagine with the FordPass App remote start stuff it should be possible right? Hopefullyit’s just software and Ford can push an update.
I have seen a couple of Rivian trucks, one in a parking lot and one at my Ford dealer's lot. I thought they looked great, rugged but comfortable, and in terms of size hitting that sweet spot between the 150 and the Ranger. Still, at present, charging is a huge hassle, and any road trip over three hundred miles would be cause for concern. Also, are these boutique companies going to be there for you if your truck breaks down? Will they even still be in business at all? I will stick with Fords for my next truck, probably a Ranger Tremor or Raptor, and probably ICE, unless Ford really introduces some great EV options and the charging situation improves dramatically.

They are demo vehicles. My local for dealer has one and I asked about it at my last service visit. Ford won't let them sell it until a period of time has passed. Ford wanted people to be able to see and test drive them in hopes of securing more orders.
I’ve heard the term Mannequin Vehicle ? used before.

They are licensing the technology and building the batteries in a new plant here. So basically the CCP gets a cut of each battery and seeing how they are built here the vehicles qualify for the $7500 rebate. The US has definitely fallen behind when it comes to IP lately and China is invested heavily in it. That's what happens when money is funneled into social programs instead of R&D.
But on a whole don’t you just feel warmer and fuzzer on the inside due to those investments ??

People who buy EV's because they think they are saving the planet have been duped. It is exactly the opposite.

Buy your EV truck. Put a 5000 watt generator in the bed and run a power cord from genny to truck outlet. Run truck and run genny at same time, and you will go on forever, or until genny needs gas !!!

What an idea. They all should have a onboard gas generator. You better patent it before someone steals your idea.
I heard this morning Ford is not going to split the EVs into their own unit because investors are scared what this Lightening problem will cost.

The new RAM EV will actually have such a gas-powered generator built in.

Use gas genny to charge EV battery, run EV, recharge with gas genny, run EV,...repeat, repeat, drive EV to gas station for genny gas, repeat, repeat, repeat.....
