I find a chipper to be overkill in most body disposal type situations. You leave a paper trail renting the thing after all.. not off to a good start. I just use the push mower I bought used off a crackhead down-town for 2$ and a half dead lighter.

That's oddly specific.

Just trying to turn people on to the deals you can get from your friendly neighborhood crackhead!

Not only is that shit TAX FREE.. but you also get a glimpse into an alternative culture.

Usually getting up close and personal with a different culture takes an expensive vacation somewhere fancy to experience... this one is right in the park across the street from Deering middle school! Super convenient.

They would have to claim that $2 as income to the IRS now. So you're going to make them owe taxes.

Oh I've already called them and tipped them off.

Gotta clean up these damn streets somehow! The wood chipper method is.. sadly frowned upon. The IRS can just haul them off instead.

I can tell this wasn't a recent thing you've done. Crackheads generally aren't a thing these days. In today's world, you'd be buying that push mower from the meth heads hanging out by a bonfire under a bridge. And with inflation what it is today, I'm sure it'd cost you at least tree fiddy and a brand new lighter.

It looks like it is set up well...looks like heaviest weight is placed over and forward of the axle. It shows a 600 lb tongue weight, which is heavy for a set up without a WD hitch, but doable with a good drop shank insert. The fact that the 600 lb tongue weight is 12% of the total weight indicates that they have the tongue weight set up properly.
Info says it's a pintle type hook up, so it's gonna make a lot of noise and feel sloppy when towing...just the nature of a pintle hitch.
Your set up with brakes, so you OK there.
Only item I would look at, is to set it up with the front slightly down from level.
Your probably going to need a drop shank receiver insert...get one that will drop the pintle hook up so when hitched up the trailer is slightly nose down...you do not want the front to ride higher than the rear...that will lead to fishtailing and all kinds of problems.
Depending on height of trailer hitch you may need something like this to drop the pintle...

It looks like the height is adjustable on the trailer side so hopefully not too much adjustment is needed. I'm trying to find the coupler height to see what rough sizing it might need.

The one thing that gives me pause it that a number of places require a 3/4+ ton truck for towing this when it already has brakes, a balanced load and a relatively small footprint compared to a RV.

All things equal, between the capacity, brakes and hitch, I am curious this wouldn't be doable in a Ranger or 1/2 ton, but then again, this why I'm asking here rather than saying YOLO and sending it.

I've noticed rental places can be REALLY conservative about towing. I was once looking to rent a pickup from Hertz or whatever so I could tow my 1400lb squaredrop camper (before I owned the Ranger, and my wife needed our tow-capable vehicle for work that weekend) and those places expressly prohibit towing anything with any of their vehicles except an HD pickup. So not even on full-size vehicles that are way over-capable for pulling such a light trailer.

Sadly, if a rental place prohibits you from towing it, there's not really any way around those restrictions. But if you're looking to buy one yourself, you'll be fine.

Your 5000 lb trailer/chipper will NOT be a problem for your Ranger. In fact, because it's a low trailer set up with the weight distributed, it will be much easier than towing a similar weight travel trailer that is more like a big box.
I,m towing a 7000 lb travel trailer without any problems, and many others tow or have towed everything from travel trailers, box trailers, boats, flatbed car haulers with cars, ect.
If your new to towing something that heavy, the Ranger can handle it, just take your time till you become familiar with how it handles, stopping distances, turning radius's, ect.

Just looked at one of the vidio's about setting it up to tow, and it does look like it has an adjustable pindle loop, so your probably good with just a pindle shank.

Half ton trucks like F150 Chevy 1500 or Ram 1500 aren't really half ton trucks anymore. Half a ton is 1,000 lbs. All those trucks, Rangers and Tacomas etc will haul over 1,000 lbs. The naming of that size is old and hasn't been updated.

55 gallon drums of acid are much better. Breaks down DNA evidence and easier to tow around.

Welcome to the internet!
A low signal to noise ratio was expected but I DID get the info I was hoping for. Only thing left is to wait and see if I get a 6" or 12" one first.
