Maybe you are old, maybe not but you obviously have good taste in music!

I don't get the ringing, but I can hear my pulse echoing in my ear. It's not bad during the day, when it sort of drowns in all of the other noises, but at night when I put my head on my pillow, it reverberates back into my ear, and since the pillow is blocking out all of the background noise, it's the only thing that I hear. That's pretty damn frustrating, especially when I'm dog-tired, but this stupid pulsing echo is keeping me awake. I can't sleep on my back either, coz then my snoring is bad enough that it will actually wake me up (there's usually a nice, loud snort just as I'm on the cusp of falling asleep, and there we go, I'm awake again), and if it doesn't, you can bet that the wife is gonna let me know cause she's not sleeping. I end up having to make a sort of pillow mound with a bunch of little pillows supporting my neck under my ear, and bigger pillows arrayed to take my head, while creating a hole for my ear to rest over, that way the pulse has somewhere to go rather than echoing back into my ear.
Wouldn’t hurt to have a carotid ultrasound if you haven’t had one in a while. Could be blockage causing that pulsing sound.

We listen to Sirius/XM channel 66, Watercolors smooth Jazz. This is a compromise as Margie is an Elvis fan and I am Heavy Metal.... We both agreed to smooth jazz and pipe it through the house from early morning until bed time...music never stops except for afternoon nap time. Lincoln Nautilus also...Ranger...not any music to speak of as I declined XM after free trial...do not use the Ranger much so it would be a waste of $.

Best,
Phil

I like smooth jazz, but I refuse to listen to it in the car; same with classical, and my wife has standing orders not to play her spa music when I'm driving either. They get me "too" relaxed, and that's not where I want to be getting that level of relaxed.

IMO, smooth jazz is best every now and then at the end of the day with a good stiff drink.

I was raised on 80's rock, but lately I generally tune into conservative talk radio. I need to be informed. When my wife turns on the evening news I know what's false and left out.

Sounds like you need to find a doctor who speializes in Pulsitile Tinnitus. Some causes are treatable. It is sometimes a symptom of serious issues with the blood flow to the brain. Definitely worth checking out and may get you some relief.
I recently had a no-cost sleep apnea evaluation at my dentist. I don't have apnea, but he suggested getting fitted for a snoring device. It would have been about $800, so I bought a $50 Z-Quiet. It really works, but it puts pressure on your teeth. A fitted one would be much better I am sure.

I don't get the pulse echoing and that sounds like it's really irritating. Hopefully you get get some relief from it and that sounds worse than the rining.

Mine is a constant ring but like you said it gets drowned out during the day by other noise. Once I lay down it's a constant ring/humming and can get very annoying some nights. Right now if I stop and listen I can hear it but I think I've got use to it and try my best to tune it out. I've tried all those tips yo see on the Youtube videos and none have worked or even helped. Thankfully my hearing is really great so I try to stay away from music or places that are really loud now.
Tinnitus SUCKS. I have the same constant problem, have been seeing the same Dr for a few years, have regular hearing tests, hearing is stable and not an "issue" just yet, but I know I miss some things at certain levels. Unfortunately, there are no new revolutionary solutions for the constant ringing. The current methods are not covered by insurance, are pricy and really only mask the issue. A good resource is the American Tinnitus Association. There are definitely days where it is hard to ignore and block out. Someday someone will find a solution ?.

What am I listening to? My wife.

I'm with you on music. I've got 3500+ songs on my chip. Little of everything except classical. Set on random. If something that I'm not in the mood for comes up, it's Next Track button. Radio tends to be the local country FM station to keep up with the new stuff. I've got the XM button turned off on my APIM settings in Forscan.
I'm tempted to invest in Forscan just to disable the XM button. Too many times I hit that button, then the next 4 weeks I'm receiving e-mails and paper mail with offers on Sirius XM. Whatever happened to 'No means no!"

This is perhaps another cause of my tinnitus ?

My Tinnitus is from 22 years as a track side official for the Indy Car series. Screaming High RPM engines.
