So, I finally broke down and bought the Ford Performance Pack for my Tremor. Called my actual dealer and he said it would be 3 weeks. So called the dealer near me last Thursday and he told me that if I brought it in at 7am on Friday they would have it back to me that day. Well, they didn't get it done. Monday or Tuesday either. They finally just called me today and told me it was ready. When I had asked how much before I brought it the guy told me $189. Today when the guy called me he said it was going to be $450. Said it took the technician half a day to program. Hate to be an asshole, but its going to happen.

That's a huge difference and I'd make a fuss too. Did you by chance get the original quote in writing? If so then they don't have a leg to stand on. Good luck!!

Double what they quoted?!
The guy told me $189. The different guy who called me today said that was an hourly rate and actually had the audacity to tell me they were cutting me a deal as it took them half a day. Looks like I'll be having a discussion with the GM.

You'll love the Ford Performance Tune!......it makes the truck awesome all the way around!

My mechanic installed it in about an hour.....I brought my own laptop.....super easy install....there's NO WAY in he!! they took a half of a day to install....I'm calling them out as liars!!.....I could have installed myself it was that easy.......just thought I needed my mechanic......which I really didn't but I didn't know that at the time.......good that the dealer installed it for warranty purposes though.......my tune and truck has been flawless (over 1 year and 15,000 miles with the tune) and I'm not worried about the warranty for that........I bought the extended warranty for other reasons.....like the lights (extra cost in addition to the extended warranty), or the A/c system, sensors, stuff like that......but Ford still has to PROVE that the tune caused any other issues if they fail which will be very hard for them to do!

good luck my friend!

Took me about an hour all in. About 20 minutes on the computer inside and about 40 on the truck including looking at stuff on the handheld.

Same here, he is either inept or lying through his teeth, took at most an hour, 20-30 minutes to register and download to the tuner, and another 30 minutes to program the truck. I did have experience installing a tune so was not worried. The tune has been awesome and has worked perfectly for the last 18 months.

I would stick by the quote! If they didn't have to replace parts then they should eat the labor on the guy milking the clock. When I had my local Ford dealer install my Roush tune I was in and out of there in 2 hours, from the time I pulled in to the time I left. I paid somewhere between 100 & 150 dollars. I went with them to make sure I got the 3 yr 36k mile warranty from Roush, that was the stipulation to get the warranty.

Won't know for sure until the TFL guys give it a try - install could be 3 minutes and guarantee the TFL video would be 45 minutes.

Credit where it's due, it's still at least 3 hours and 15 minutes quicker than this Ford tech. :giggle:

When dealing with these issues the old adage about catching more flies with honey than vinegar applies. These guys are used to the asshole approach. Throw them a curveball and be nice and see what happens.
