I've been using the self serve sprayers at the car wash since new without issue. Been able to give the underneath a good spraying to keep the salt off. Found on colder weather that if I put on a pair of gloves with a pair of nitrile over the top my hands stay warm when I dry off the truck with some micro fiber towels.
This spring I might get underneath and give it wipe down to try to keep the salt from doing anymore damage.

Oh yeah I'll also take a micro fiber cloth and soap it up after soaping up the truck with the sprayer now and then to get the embedded dirt off the lower part of the panels behind the tires. Its not the 2 bucket method but works for me.

To avoid going through any kind of car wash, what are you all doing in the Winter time to rinse off the under carriage of the salt/brine? I only ever took my 2021 Ranger though a car wish once and that was last year during Winter to rinse off the under carriage after the roads dried off after a snow storm. I usually hand wash during warmer temps and try to spray off underneath as best I can, but I'm not going to hand wash during Winter.
This Winter the Ranger has been sitting in the driveway while I use the ole AWD Mountaineer to drive if we're supposed to get snow or if roads have been salted/brined and until that stuff dries up on the roads.
When I lived back east I would hand wash it using these gloves here. If it was really cold I'd go to one of those self serve hand wand washes. We would come back from Maine or Canada and out trucks and trailers were covered in salt and these work great for getting everything off. You just need to dress warm because of the mist in the air will freeze on your face. lol

I live in south Florida.

Snow is icky. LOL

But they sell under carriage sprayers that either hook to your pressure washer, or garden hose... They roll under the vehicle and spray up...
I had one of those when I was back in MA. I could easily turn the water on in the basement and go outside and wash my truck with this along with the gloves I posted above. I had several different power washers back then as I had a second business washing houses. One had adjustable pressure so it was nice to dial it down when washing the underside rather than blasting it with 3,500 psi. lol

Everyone's version of paradise is different and I'll take my 4 seasons over living anywhere else.:like:

I've been going through the touchless wash the past 3 years without the paint or cheap stickers washing off. My RANGER letters have hung on and the Sport stickers too.
I'll take my chances in the touchless wash every couple weeks over leaving salt on the vehicle all winter.
Something isn't right because like you if I don't have time or it's to hot outside I'll go through a touchless wash and have never had anything happen. I still prefer the hand held self serve wands as you can get a better job (at least I feel you do) doing it yourself. But even those seem to be higher pressure than the touchless wash. ? Maybe they deleted the glue and we need to add that to the list now??

You use a car wash instead of washing at home with a foam cannon and 303?
The handheld wash bays are disappearing around here but every month there is another automatic car wash popping up it seems.
And yeah, sounds like the op got a Monday Ranger.

Don’t get me wrong KJ - love the winter snow and the lifestyle that goes with it…

Unbelievable I know. o_O:surprised: ?

The one thing I hate about my house is the south facing driveway. It has sun on it from around 7am- 7pm during the summer so it's way to hot to wash it here. There's only one self serve wash over in Avondale so it's nice to have it enclosed and easier to do a quick wash there. We're having auto washes pop up here too and no way I'm taking my truck (or anything I own) through one of those.

One thing I do not miss is being all bundled up like that! :puke: While it does get "cold" here this time of year (it's been low-mid 30's in the mornings) I still wear shorts 365 days. I just throw on a t shirt and a hoodie so I don't freeze to death until noon time when the sun warms up. ?:sun::tumbleweed:

Hey John,

Those under carriage sprayers for pressure washers are great and I want one, mostly for cleaning mud off the under side.

Unfortunately, they are bricked in the winter because we northerners have turned off our outside faucets for the season, pumped anti-freeze into our pressure washers and drained our garden hoses.

So, yeah, it’s off to the touchless car wash with the under carriage sprayer after a snow event that put salt trucks out on the roads.

Just the realities of not living in paradise. :(
Preach ??‍♂

Of course you washed your vehicles by hand in the dead of winter when you lived in MA.

You’d be out there with a propane tank, lobster pot, clay mitt, your hazmat gloves, microfibre towels fresh out of the dryer, and 303 mixed with methyl hydrate if this was your situation…

Crooked parking? You can do that anywhere!

Good point, I don't drive enough as it is so a trip to the self wash would be good.
